MEXT Scholarship 2014

Hello all!
Just wanted to see how everyone's doing? I can see that the ones to apply through University recommendation are in motion now, eh? :D

I've got another 2-3 months of waiting to do... Getting impatient already :/
How many of special training college applicants have received the recommendation?
Also, does anyone knows how many applicants of this school receive scholarships every year?

Anyways, good luck with current screenings and I wish patience to everyone as I am running low on it... xD;

Hello! I'm a special training college applicant and luckily, I also received my embassy's recommendation when I thought I had failed my Math exam and messed up the interview because I was so nervous. Even I, still can't believe I've gone as far as getting the embassy's recommendation. LOL!
I don't have any idea how many applicants will receive the scholarship, but a friend (a research scholar, and now entering her final year) shared that the embassy told her before that once you get recommended, that's 99% assurance that you're getting it already. So yeah, I do hope we all be granted the scholarship.

All the best to everyone♪

Congratulations on the recommendation :)
"So bad"? O: It couldn't have been SO bad if you were invited to the interview. There's a limit of points set by MEXT to all the countries all the same. Meaning that yours were higher than that. I wouldn't worry too much in your place ^0^

Oh, a fellow senmon-sei! What's your major? :)
Did you ask about your math exam result? I wonder how many points you take as "failing" XDD
And oh my! I was also so nervous during the interview! I could feel my English break before even leaving my mouth. My hands were shaking horribly too D::
Congratulations on the recommendation despite the harsh trials you had to go through!! 8D

Well, in my country, Lithuania, even though 1-2 applicants were recommended every year for the undergraduate scholarship, no one has ever received it. That scares me a lot. I chose the special training school, which is different than the undergrad, but still D:

Yay! Finally, I found a fellow senmon-sei!
I will major in Tourism if ever, Hotel Management to be exact, though I'm already a University graduate here in my country. How about you?
I did not ask for my Math results, I'm too chicken to ask. Maybe next time. LOL! There were only 2-3 questions where I was sure of my answers; others were wild guesses; but the rest, I didn't even know so I left it blank.
It sure was a nerve-wracking experience(ToT)
Thank you! Congratulations to you too!

I don't know how many got recommended by the Embassy here then were granted the scholarship on the previous years/this year. But in the 2013 batch, most who received the scholarship were research scholars, and 2, ONLY 2, special training scholars. So even if my friend told me that, I wouldn't want to assume...besides I'm on a different category so there would most likely be differences in the selection. Oh, how I wish its December already. The agony of waiting is just so frustrating :(

It's October!
How is everyone holding up? The wait is long, but hopefully it'll all work out in the end!
I still have trouble sleeping at night at times when the thoughts present themselves to me, but in general I've been sleeping better.
Counting down the days only seems to make the wait longer though so I keep myself busy in uni while waiting <_<
Best of luck!

Hey lasershark, Garden etc

Congrats on the recommendation! I got recommended too late July. The exams were pretty tough, and out of about over 100 applicants, only three of us were recommended from my country.

I came to this forum to look for people from other countries who got recommended as well! Great meeting you!

Let's know each other!

Who else got recommended for MEXT scholarship this year?

I managed to get to the level of embassy recommendation to MEXT on an undergraduate level! I'm awaiting the final results! The wait is so agonizing, this thing takes so long! :( :(

If you got recommended even on other levels like COT or ST, let's know each other!

Hi to all!

I read all the topic (15 pages haha)... And after all, I want to ask the recommended applicants, where did they get a LoA. I'm a Chilean Recommended Applicant for Research Student in Electrical Engineering and I got the LoA from Tokyo Institute of Technology (If anyone has intentions to apply to TokyoTech, I can tell my experience in order to help).

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Hi everybody! Sorry, if this has already been asked, but are there any people that study Japanese in their country and are planning to apply for Japanese studies program? :) I myself will try to apply this spring, and I`m very curious about how many points in average do you have to get to be invited to the interview? :)

Hey, I'm trying to apply for the MEXT scholarship 2015. I'm really confused by the process. It asks me to list multiple colleges I have applied to. But the deadline is June 2014. Should I be applying for these colleges in March 2014, or should I be waiting until March 2015? Is there a blog post out there that lays everything out?

edit: Also, does anyone know a MEXT research scholar who was not already in a Ph.D. program in their home country? I'm hoping to work in Japan only.

Hello!
Sad to see the thread dying out after being so noisy for so long.
There's still 1-2 months left, huh... Hmm I wish we could be over with this waiting and just move onto the results :D

Roberta Deja niekas to nežino.

afree87 If you're applying for MEXT 2015, you will be departing for Japan in 2015, but the whole application process will be carried out in 2014. Not sure if this helped, though, sorry.

UGH, 1-2 more monthsssssssss, ughhhhhhhh xDDD

Don't worry, when December comes along, it'll get even noisier ^^

I just read it in MEXT Scholarship Applicants group in Facebook and there were 2 research applicants there who got an email yesterday from their professor, from the University who accepted them. One even mentioned that the professor said he (applicant) seemed to have passed because it was mentioned in the email that the professor just handed in some papers for the preparatory course. So yeah, I think the results coming from MEXT/Embassy are about to be released soon, or so at least we have an idea the MEXT selection's probably done/in the final stages.

Let's just all hope for the best!

That might've been me :P.

Yeah, I got an e-mail, first from my professor and then from the International Students section, congratulating me for getting accepted as a research student, asking me whether I want to start in April or September, and if I want to take the 6 month language course. Only got it from Nagoya, nothing from Osaka (the other guy on Facebook got one from Osaka). I wanted to ask if this means I can't fail the february stage, but I ended up getting flustered and just giving them the info >.> The IS section guy did tell me that she'll contact me later on regarding accomodation, though.

Currently looking at the phone and having panic attacks. Dear god, the pressure. In JLPT week no less.

Congratulations on your selection Zgarbas!

Didn't know that the university selection comes pre-embassy selection, so my mind was racing reading about your victory while I hadn't gotten the notification ^^

I don't know about university selection but I bet you'll get some pretty good place to live. More so because you'll get some higher allowance than us undergrads..

Wishing all that are still awaiting the results all the best! We're all together in this.

That's the thing: I didn't sign up via University Nomination, I signed up via Embassy recommendation. It's why I'm so confused, as I don't really know if I genuinely got selected or if they're just settling some bureaucratic quirks in case I get selected.

Oh, so it's you. Hi there! 🙂

You're most likely been selected by MEXT if the talks goes as far as your accommodation. Even if there's no official word from the MEXT/Embassy yet, still, it really seems to be a great sign for you! Congratulations in advance :-)

I don't know for high school, but for college I guess you could apply for the MEXT's scholarship (Undergraduate category or Special Training category). You should check the local Embassy's website for details. Application for MEXT 2015 would most likely open around summer 2014 (March/April).

Hello everyone once again!
Just wanted to congratulate everyone with December, which means that the wait is almost up. Good work with your ... 5-6 month (!?) patience test as you will be rewarded now.
Oh jolly season of Christmas and all that's happy nice and good~ (I actually can't stand it)

I wish you bestest of luck as my paranoia will switch on tomorrow as I open my eyes in the morning and never let my phone out of my hands ever again.
I honestly can't stress it enough how much this all means to me, oh damn it.

So yeah... YAY DECEMBER! *sweats nervously*

I got my email just now.

I passed the 2nd screening.

I was told that it's not the final decision, but it's amazing and congrats! I'll have to wait more for the true answer.

I'm trembling
