MEXT Scholarship 2014

Hello guys,

I received a phone call and an e-mail from the embassy in my country, the exam is on Sunday and I'm sooooooooooo NE~~~RVO~~~U~~~S :S

If anybody who applied for Natural Science B or C could help me by telling my what exams were similar to this year exams I would be very thankful :3

Thank you all for the info and the help in this thread

Wish me luck please :3333333333333333333

Best wishes for you all

Magician, I'm not quite sure since I believe the certificate of primary selection is for postgrad applicants (I'm taking the undergraduate but correct me if I'm wrong)

alyssarashi, I didn't get anything else as well. I thought the medical stuff came after the MEXT notification and not the embassy notification?

Oh, is it? Yokatta~ Probably misread it before😌

The embassy just called, I passed the interview somehow o.O. Time to start applying.

Thank you, I received the phone call and the e-mail at July Tuesday 23rd. I'm applying for MEXT SS as an undergraduate students...

BTW try calling the embassy they might help you if you are applying for different program or same as mine

Good luck

So, anyone got any recommendations regarding the bureaucracy? Should I contact the Uni to let them know I'm coming? Contact the teachers first? Both at once? Can I apply to as many Unis as I want, or just to the 3 I selected (and if the teacher doesn't accept me, can I try other teachers as supervisors?)... This is confusing. The tight deadline doesn't help.

Guys what to wear for the interview? a suit?

Absolutely yes! I believe you need to give them the impression that you're really focused on getting the scholarship - a suit... and a smile will take you far, imo.

I wore a blazer and long-sleeved shirt with jeans to the interview. When I finally got out of the interview area the long sleeved shirt was so sweaty that I had to change out Σ(゜д゜;)
I wonder, now that I've got the embassy recommendation, how good are my chances of getting the scholarship?

I'd say your chances are pretty good.

My embassy originally recommended two of us, but just yesterday, another guy was called and told that another slot had opened up, so he'd also been recommended. Call me optimistic, but I think all three of us (from my country) will get the scholarship!

Hello , today we had the exams at 8 AM whew that's early ....

mmm I'm nervous because I messed up at Math and didn't do my best at Chemistry in the other hand I did pretty well at English and Biology (I'm Natural Science C and B applicant) , and don't ask about the Japanese exam by the way xD

I'm not sure If I'm the only one who finds that the Math exams after 2009 aren't easy because I studied 2007 , 2008 , 2009 and 2010 exams and all were simple except the 2010 one... and now the one of this year is isn't easy either....

The Chemistry exam wasn't too hard or too easy but the problem is I couldn't find time to study Chemistry and I ended up going to the exam unprepared for the subject

wish me luck and pray for me :3

I hope I get contacted for the interview because that means I passed the danger zone already ☝

Good luck for all of you too 👍

Hello everyone. Congrats to those that have already been recommended by the embassy, and good luck to those still doing their exam/interview.

I was lucky to get the embassy recommendation, and I'm trying to get the letter of acceptance (LoA).

My question is, is there someone on this forum applying to Nagoya University? The professor e-mailed me saying the faculty agreed to take me on, but as far as obtaining a LoA, the University is a bit fuzzy in the details. I would be grateful for any guidance regarding how best to proceed.

Additional info: Other universities e-mailed me asking for all the necessary documents,so at least I know something is the pipeline.

Thanks a lot.

Hi everyone! Back again!

A quick question about a few things on the application: (undergrad)

What is 'present status with school attending or employer?' If I'm to graduate within the month, do I write 'enrolled' or 'Graduated'?

Finally, how much writing should I do for each of the questions? Are they looking for short answers or detailed paragraphs?

I'm probably overthinking, but I'm really nervous! >_<;

i just wanted to ask abt what we study in Geotechnical Engineering and Computer Software,Computer Graphics
if someone could help it would be realy nice!

Hello Monicca! :)
For present status you write your current status. So, because you haven't graduated yet, write something like "Studying at (where you are studying), expected to graduate (when)."
Can't help with your second question because I didn't apply for the undergraduate level, but my advice in general would be to make sure you answer the questions correctly regardless of how much or how little space it takes to do so. :)
Good luck!

hello.
please help me.
do we have to fit in our ans in that small space or can we write detailed para on a seperate sheet or something?
eagerly awaiting your response.
ps if u could consult someone or have some information it would be really kind of you if you could share .
thanks a lot

i would like to know if i am obliged to only correspond with the professors i listed in my application or i can find and contact other professors from other universities. since my first choice professor is retiring and my second choice will not be accepting students for the next year!
