Hello, how are you doing?

Do you know how many months do Mext students usually spend doing research before applying and being accepted to a master program at a Japanese University?
What is the common starting salary for someone with a master degree in "salary men" jobs in japan(if there is one) and is the salary enough to support the cost of living for one person in a big city like Tokyo?

Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge (at my university), there is no requirement that candidates for a master's program have to do any research before entering the program.

Salariman jobs depend on whether you can handle the language (writing, speaking, reading). The pay itself probably depends on the field. What's yours? Look up the classified ads in The Japan Times online or in Metropolis online, or if you can read Japanese go to Career Cross and see what the starting salaries are.

It's not necessary, but a lot of foreign students with MEXT will take 1-2 semesters as a "research student." During that time, they will get settled in Japan, and then prepare for and take the entrance exam. If your university and department offers fall admission, you can start after one semester (six months). If they only offer spring admission, then you will have to wait one year as a research student.
