It's not outright horror, but there are some lovely surreal (and quite horrific)
moments. Be warned; Logic was not a key factor in the script. I believe the film is based on a horror Manga of the same name.
This is a good site for anyone interested in Asian cinema - lots of japanese ones, mainly focusing on more extreme or horror type films.

You don't need to throw a lot of special effects at it to make it scary.
