Hope this hasn't been asked here, but if so, feel free to redirect me!
In the anime Samurai Champloo (episode 14), there's featured a song by a woman from the Amami islands, who presumably sings in that dialect. My knowledge of Japanese is paltry at best, but I'm hoping someone can point out specific dialect features in the song or, better yet, explain the chief differences between it and standard Japanese? For example, she repeats the word hare (and I thought maybe it was like the Ryukyuan equivalent of J ware), but it doesn't yield anything on wiktionary, & it's making me want to pop out my eyeballs with a melon-baller.
Here's the youtube video, which has lyrics somewhere (though they are very probably wrong):
Many thanks to any willing soul. Arigatō da zo!
Edit: Should probably include the lyrics.
Arayashikiku no dei
Harasaku baku no dei
Hare fushigyurasa nejyuku
Surajifushiro yondo
Hare fushigyurasa nejyuku
Fushigyurasa nejyuku
Surajifusero yondo
Kirishigaki ku no dei
Kuganeya be tatei tei
Hare momo tobyuru wakya
Ya uriba yuwa o yondo
Hare momo to byuru wakya
Momo to byuru wakya
Ya uriba yuwa o yondo
Hateigachi ya naryuri
Tobibani ya neranu
Hare utou katabani
Ya karachitabore
Hitotsu aru bani ya
Kanasha se ni kusuitei
Hare wanu ya okuyama
Nu kazuradasuki
Ojyuugoya no teiki ya
Kami gyurasa teryuri
Hare kana ga jyo ni tataba kumo tei taborei
