My name is Jeremy (ジェレミー). I am reposting this after some time to bring it back to the top and add more information.
I was stationed at Camp Foster in Okinawa (キャンプ・フォスター, 沖縄) from May 1996 to April 1997. That is when I met Hitomi Murayama (村山ひとみ). We lost touch, and I have always wondered where life took her.
She did not speak much English, but somehow, we still found a way to connect. We did not even spend a lot of time together, but the few moments we did share stuck with me. It was not some deep relationship, but there was something about Hitomi that stayed with me.
This post is my way of reaching out, in case Hitomi ever searches her name—or if someone who knows Hitomi recognizes her in the attached pictures, or even just remembers her from that time. I am not looking to interrupt her life, just hoping for the chance to reconnect. Even just to say hello again, after all this time. Hitomi was someone I never forgot, and it would mean a lot to catch up and see how things turned out for her.
There was one person who might have helped us stay in touch—Yuki Miyara (宮良ゆき).
After I left Okinawa, I ended up talking to Hitomi one more time by phone while Yuki was visiting North Carolina. She was dating a friend of mine at the time, and the three of us—Yuki, my friend, and I—were all in the U.S. then, while Hitomi was still in Japan. It was a good call, and we both said we would keep in touch.
But not long after that, Yuki and my friend broke up—and just like that, the connection was gone again.
If Hitomi ever sees this—or if someone else recognizes Hitomi—feel free to share it. Even a small note or message would mean a lot. I would appreciate any chance for it to reach her. If comments are not available, I can be reached at [email protected].
