if you're in a band, man those are the dudes that get all the chicks.

The trouble is, my band plays really heavy, scarry music, so it's very rare for girls to come to our shows and the ones who do are usually pretty scarry themselves. I'd need to join a band that plays wussy love songs if I want to meet girls.

I've played in a band that played music as scary that my husband's boss's 5 year old son started to cry at the dinner table. I used to love making scary sounds on my keyboard.

You should call her again, Brooker. If you are still interested in her. Maybe you can get her into your kind of music.

Hell, I'm busy too, but if I'm interested in someone I'll somehow find a way to get a hold of them. That seems like a really lame excuse to me. And even if it's true, it sure doesn't make the person you're telling it to feel very important.

I think a lot of people do this to make themselves feel more important, actually. She could also be shy/insecure about being hit on for her looks all the time. Hence this lame reason and either getting drunk to talk to someone or lying about it. Or genuinely snobbish and/or not on the market.

It took my boyfriend over a year to recognize my feelings (on the assumption Japanese language questions indicated the total extent of my interest, eventually becoming unresponsive, even hostile, to my many other more personal forays). Although fortunately things pretty much fell into place after I confessed to not wanting to make a bad impression and that roadblock was finally cleared.
