Ok, so I just got Japanese for Busy People and the textbook itself looks pretty good, the only problem is I didn't realize if you want the CDs you gotta fork out ツ≫??0. I mean, what that's just outragous, so are the tapes of that much use and would I be able to get by, by just finding sound clips of the words on the Internet?

This realy all depends. You do need to get lots of listening pracitce but it doesn't necessarily have to be the CD companion to your textbook. I don't have the JFBP tapes myself so i can't vouch for them, sorry.

you could buy a set like this instead for example:
Teach Yourself Japanese Conversation (TYCN): Amazon.co.uk: Gilhooly, Helen: 9780340900277: Books
It always helps to get explainations from different sources too.

You can find some audio lessons on the internet too, but not much.

It also depends on whether you are in a class, or watch lots of japanese language shows etc.

In any case the less listening you do, the worse you will be at it. However, I wouldn't really say that it is essential to get the JFPB CDs, its really up to you.

Good Luck!
Katherine
