I have bought several lovely paintings over the years and would love to know what the text on them says. If anyone can translate it would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Alex

I'm sorry, I can't help you, but you could try posting in the 'language' section - I'm sure someone there with the knowledge could at least have a clue. :)

I have moved this to the language forum, just as Kinsao suggested.
Actually would you mind putting some pictures in the art section, I wouldn't mind seeing these pictures?

I'm not sure what the top 2 are, but the middle two say "9 month" or in other words, "September", and the last two are the painter's name. Those last two are the same as the ones in the red stamp.

This is the painter's name. Again, the characters are the same as the ones in the real seal.

The only thing I can say definitively is that it says 1954.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help!

They look different to me. Looks like the first one is 東園 and the other is 東仙.

(1)??九月東園
(2)恵仙
(3)両個羊羔一九五四年?叡畫甘南蔵區一小景

I cannot figure out three of them which I put "?" instead.

Yes, I was treating the pictures as separate entities, so I wasn't explicit, but you're right Glenn, that the artists are not the same person, as Unrentide also indirectly pointed out.

The 2nd missing kanji in (1) wouldn't be 節 by any chance?

The missing kanji in (3) wouldn't be 潟 without sansui, would it? (I tried to get the kanji to display, but I just couldn't get it to work.)

(1) ?? .... unreadable " simplified " characters on the scroll

(2) someone's name or a place

(3) TIBET .... first bold Kanji word written as " WEST " not " south " on the actual scroll.Last two Chinese characters, the painter's first name ( mostly like a female ).
