hi, i use to know of this program that will allow your computer to understand japanese.. and it also had a program to allow you to type japanese. but i have forgotten the place to get it :(

does anyone know of a program that can do what i said above? if so, please tell me a link to the web site. thanks

Well NJStar is a good Japanese word processor. Chinese, Japanese & Korean Language Software by NJStar 南极星 It's not free, but they have a 30-day trial version available for download.

As for typing Japanese, if you're running Windows, I suggest downloading one of their global IME for it.

Microsoft Global IME (Input Method Editor) 5.02 for Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0
Microsoft Download Center: Windows, Office, Xbox & More

Japanese IME for Windows XP
Microsoft Download Center: Windows, Office, Xbox & More

IME is not necessary or supported on Windows 2000 since that OS has full-featured East Asian input support built in. All you need to do is activate it, which is explained on the Windows 95, 98, NT download page.

I've been using JWP & JWPce for years.
physics.ucla.edu/~grosenth/jwpce.html
It has an integrated dictionary so I find I use it more often than Windows IME.
