Maybe like Beckham?! :D I'm surprised they haven't made one in the image of him since he's so idolized over there. I still don't know why? :?

Perfect example....that's exactly what I was thinking along the lines of.

LOL..it's possible but I was thinking more along the lines of a political leader or something. :D

Castro? Mao? Hussein? Hitler? Stalin (he had one arm up all the time)?

Interesting thread. I recently met a Japanese girl that I like (I'm a British Indian) and we met purely for language exchange here in London. I like her a lot and quite fancy her too. We get on really well and have a good time when we get together about once a week.

Even though we've only just met I'm waiting to see how things develop between us as friends before I tell her that I really like her. I don't want to upset the applecart so early in this new friendship though I can't stop thinking about her. I know what you might be thinking: she's a new friend so of course she's always in my thoughts and time will tell if I feel the same way about her in a few months.

At the moment it works well in a way as it incentivises me to keep practising my Japanese so that we do learn new things when we see each other, and I'm impressing her so far, I think. :-)

She doesn't pull away if I put my hand on hers while we're talking in the coffee shop, but I'm careful as to not be too obvious. I think I've got it bad for her and it's killing me that I can't say anything at this stage other than just pour it out here!

I hope she's not reading this right now.......

Best of luck to you man hold on to her!

GunstarHero,
That was how my husband and I met! I was studying English and he vice versa, we wrote to each other every day and phoned twice a week for over three months when we were apart, which I would do anything not to experience ever again, the long distance. We'll have been married for 6yrs in august.

Good luck to you! Liking someone is a good thing.

I dated a Japanese girl when I was stationed in Japan...haven't had a steady relationship since. That woman was the best thing that ever happened to me...wait...*sniff*...of course I write this as I listen to X-Japan's "Say Anything"...no really, color shouldn't be an issue.

Nationality is still an issue for relationships with people?

Or did this post refer to the clashing of cultures?

That is the funniest thing i have heard in awhile. Thanks.
:D :D :D :D

Hell, more than ever in 2004!

It's expensive to live comfortably these days. It's no wonder women look for "successful" (another way of saying "rich" but they don't wanna sound shallow) men. :D 👍 :D 👍 :D 👍 :D 👍 :D 👍

yeah...you're overdoing it with the smilies. They're funny and cute, but like alcohol, use them in moderation. Wait...did I just say that? Uh-oh...I'm showing my age again...

I've been with my fiance coming on two years now, and let me tell you, it has its moments where you just can't stand eachother. It could be because we are apart so much we forget what its like to be together. But when we get together, we're like two peas in a pod, Hidemi 'n me.

Hell, I'm hoping for the best.

Peace.

Ant

my 2 cents:

I'm a white(Italian/armenian) female, and I just got out of a very serious relationship with a half japanese guy.

Soon your heart will be made whole again and may you find a man who brings you much happiness!

I was watching a Japanese show called "Shinkon-san Irasshai" (Welcome Newlyweds) available on video. Newlywed couples get interviewed by a former Manzai comedian and a young female talent. There was one couple from Okayama prefecture--a white guy from Philadelphia and a local Japanese gal. They met at NOVA. The host of the show asked wasn't it against the company policy for an employee to date students. The guy said he didn't care, he wanted her, and eventually got another teaching job.

During one of their early dates, the guy knew the gal's birthday was coming up so he asked her if she had already received or was about to receive a gift, to try to find out if she had boyfriends. She said no, so he told her he had just been to Tokyo and would like to give her a gift, He asked her to close her eyes, and she did. He gave her a kiss.

The host of the show said something to the effect that that's the kind of thing that makes Japanese women want to go for Gaijin guys because a Japanese male would never do something like that.
