Hi there, I'm doing a presentation on tourism in Japan and I have a few questions.
Why does Japanese tourists prefer travelling in groups instead of by themself or family?
I got a few more but all I can rememebr is this one for now
I wouldn't go so far to say good deals, some tours are pure daylight robbery! (not to dismiss your statement NG) Everyone gets a comission somewhere alone the line. I saw some of the stuff that went on first hand when these tours are put together. Even the tour guides get a peice of the action if they take them to a certain gift shop or amusment park ,ect ,ect. People on these tours get thoroughly shaken down.I think there's a number of reasons for that; mainly, group tours are good deals (my host sister worked for a travel agency), they arrange everything for you, and in a country where you probably don't speak the language, it's nice to have someone that'll essentially take care of everything so you don't have to worry about all the arrangements and where to go.
Last time I went to Korea it cost over 50,000 just for the ticket alone. Had I gone at the exact same time with a tour, it would have been significantly cheaper, and the hotel charge would have been included. I know because I checked.
