Average height of the Japanese

I Just wanted to know, how tall do most Japanese Males & Females get? Her in The USA...most ppl are around 5'5" to 6'5" on average. I on the other hand am considered taller than most 15-year-old girls. at the height of 5' 7.5". I just wanted to know. THANKS

I'm really short in my country - 161cm.... my husband is also short in Japan - 163cm.... but it's another reason why we're perfect for each other hehe...
he does get a little annoyed when I wear heels

I can relate, nzueda! I'm 165 cm, and my husband is about 163 cm. I'll go up to him with heels on, and he'll say, "you're cheating!" He's obviously in denial because I am taller than him even without heels on...

I guess the backbone compresses over time. I'm an inch shorter then 10 years ago & shaving the head took me down another notch. We seem to grow wider with age too, if you enjoy eating.

Aaah, my perfect 185cm... I wouldn't want to be a single cm taller or shorter... a bit more muscle wouldn't hurt tho, but I'm getting off-topic.

I haven't seen any official stastics, but it seems like Japanese people are getting taller... these days, I see a suprising number of especially younger people that are at least close to my height (6'0"), if not taller.

I don't know about Japan, but in Norway ppl get pretty tall. The average for girls is 180 cm, and for guys 190 to 200 cm, I myself is 173 cm tall. The same hight as Mana-sama! Yay!!! OK, that was a little off-topic... anyway...

Hey- when I was there in a homestay in an average-type place I hit my head on the door all the time, but after a week or two I got really good at ducking. Something you should probably know, though, is that I am 6'6" (about 200 cm, tall people rock, so Norway must too) :sorry:

I don't think height is much of a problem unless you are awesomely tall and have trouble getting into small cars and such (like I did) but don't worry about it!

My fiance and her friends are all around 5' 1" to 5' 5" so it's pretty varied but i have seen somw very tall women around my height (6') but they are from mixed race marriages. But i have seen some tall Japanese too. Swings and roundabouts.

Im 16 years old and 188cm is that considered tall in japan because at my school most guys are around the same height (1/4 is taller or something like that)
