How about reading a book on Japan. Seeing you are Welsh you should be able to easily see the differences.

I think some research might be in order.

In some ways the Welsh would be a closer match to the Ainu (the original minority people here in Japan), but I would opine the Welsh have fared better under British rule then the Ainu have under Japanese rule.

As to cultural differences, there would be many, as generally any Asian country will differ from a Western one. Greetings, use of directness, religion, forms of government decision making, etc. are all different.

From my experience in UK, there may be some similarity between Welish and Japanese in culture. For example, something mysterious about nature or fear about nature. Maybe something to do with animism before Christianalization.

UNICEF DATA - Child Statistics. Because Wales is part of the UK it hasn't got the Welsh figures on.
Try putting in school attendence stats wales.
