J-rock Randomness!

Afrirampo !

Hello,

I didn't want to start a new thread, and this seems like the most appropriate place to post. I am a stranger in these parts, as I'm mainly into electronic music.

However, last night I saw a brilliant band from Osaka called Afrirampo.
Two girls (mainly on just guitar and drums) called Oni and Pika. They are totally wild and play sort of Psychadelic Rock 'n' Roll - mixing up poppy elements with loads of noise, singing in a mixture of Japanese and English.
The girls shout and swear a lot, but somehow manage to come across quite sweet. They were ace!

I like Auto-mod, Moll'e node, Schwein, Schwarz Stein, Eve of Destiny, Psydolls... do you listen to any of those bands, too? :joyful:

Cheers! These bands are new to me and I should check them out.

Afrirampo are mainly acoustic, but they sometimes work with 3 other musicians who use some electronic bits too, although the gig I saw was just the two girls.

A friend at my old job told me about Takako Minekawa - she is good too.
Sort of Indie/ Pop/ Quirky/ Electronic with sweet vocals.

And thanks to Tadao Kikumoto from the Roland corporation, who invented the TB-303 synthesizer - without this there would never have been 'Acid House', which changed the course of modern dance music.

ahh i know about them is that theyre an all girl vk band? which really rocks =) wat songs do you have? i have samurai .. and um... two others... i didnt particularly like the vocalist's voice... but im lookin for a pv or something =P i wanna see them =P theres no pix anywhere -_-

I don't know the title. And true the vocalists voice isn't the best, but its not the worst, that would have to go to Kana (although Ironically I like a few of her songs, but only in small amounts, cause if I her more than one song of hers a day I want to kill myself) But the fact that Dangergang is an all female VK band I have to give them their props, and a vocalist can get better with time,I mean Miyavi did it(early Miyavi made me feel the same way Kana does now).

And just to release some frustrations AARRGHHH!!! :box: :box: :box: :auch: :auch: . Okay so I am trying to go see Dir en grey in Japan this summer. And They finally get back at me with the special offer. AND I AM $300 SHORT Damn, Damn, Damn. And I had the money to, More than was needed but something JUST RECENTLY Came up, and I had to use $500 dollars of the money I saved. And then this week I went over my weekly budget. So the people call me about the tickets, and say that even though the Official Date for the money being due is May 12th. They can only hold the tickets until April 26, but I DONT GET PAID UNTIL THE 28th. So now I am short on the trip. Now I have to beg and plead my parents, uncles and aunties to give me the money.

Okay I am sorry for ranting, but it was somewhat related to JRock I am sorry, for spamming the thread with my nonsense that probaly no one cares about. But the thing is I HAD THE MONEY but I had to spend it on something else and now I am short. Not only that but even if my parents loan me the money I will be completely broke for two weeks until I get paid.

A random quotation... it made me laugh... I was reading the Malice Mizer interview where all the members talk about Memoire, and Kozi was talking about Gogo no sasayaki, and says, "Though I wanted a bit more time to work on this song, its the early afternoon and time to drink tea." lol! And there was me with the impression of musicians as so hard workers... sitting there at all hours, slaving over a hot mixing desk, and all the time they are like, "F**k it, it's tea-break time... let's wrap up already"...

I also think it is strangely amusing that Malice Mizer almost crashed their car because they were staring at a rainbow...

Hahah, J-rockers and rainbows? XD Sounds like an unlikely combination. Sounds like a deadly combination.

Those girls have awesome hair. *o* There doesn't seem to be many female visual kei rockers (correct me if I'm wrong).

Tea is delicious. I can see why they'd want to just drop everthing and drink tea. Must be very relaxing. ^o^:gulp:

Good news Joy - All Junglists brock out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No music makes me dance like drum and Bass, although I don't buy as much these days. I started getting into D+B in the early/mid '90s and now it is world wide - Cool!
Some of my faves; Ed Rush and Optical, DJ Krust, Grooverider, Reinforced Records label, Dillinja...I am getting a little behind with the current stuff,though.
