J-punk/Hardcore bands

WHat are some of the better/up and coming bands of this genre Japan has to offer. I know there are some as I have seen Melt banana and Envy live

try J-hiphop like the teriyaki boyz and M-flo and Ryohei! otherwise try to google for some J-punk because i never heard of j-punk before

Hm maybe you could check out:

-> The Pillows
-> Shonen Knife
-> Asian Kung-Fu Generation
-> Gauze
-> Electric Eel Shock (they have good live shows ^^)

Garlic Boys is without a doubt one of the best hardcore bands Japan has to offer. 20 years in existence and they still rock!! Their newer songs are a bit more mellow but still rockin'!!

Other bands I like are Super Thunders(greatest live show I've seen), 窶配 (Yoh), and 窶佚･ﾋ彗 (Yamato) (Argh!! They're playing in Tokyo in May!! Must see!!)

Heh... first of all, it is not called j-punk, it is just "punk" or sometimes it's called japcore. Second, you arrived to the right place to ask for japanese punk bands! well, if you're looking for the "underground".

There are many interesting bands to hear, specially from the 80's:
G.I.S.M.
One of the icons of japanese punk. A punk/metal crossover band with sick lyrics about death, war and crazy stuff... their live shows were just amazing, chaotic and scary. You will never find their vids in Youtube, it's a long story

The Stalin
Another icon, a political punk rock band

Gauze
One of the oldest bands, they are celebrating their 25 anniversary... an outrageous music style, that looks to be fast but they're not that fast as it looks.

Gastunk
Punk, rock, metal... everything. For me one of the best bands ever in Japan, their members used to be in different punk bands and created Gastunk.

Laughin' Nose
They started being a hardcore punk band, but then they changed to punk rock. Also one of the oldest punk bands that are still playing nowadays (more than 20 years)
