Why waste time and energy by actually going down to the store when you can buy pretty much anything without even leaving your bedroom!?

I am pretty bad when it comes to buying stuff, stuff I don't really need from the internet. I have bought everything from clothing items to imported meat products through the internet. 7 out of 10 times though, when I actually receive it, I am disappointed with what I had seen on the net and thought I couldn't live without it.

Please tell us about your latest purchase or something you saw on the net and thinking about buying.

My latest purchase was a CD Box Set of a band that I really like. Although I already have all the songs included in this set, this comes with a "delux booklet" with pictures and liner notes. I have just made the payment this morning so I should be receiving it sometime next week. ﾂ??,740. Was it worth it? I'll see.

My latest purchase was a pretty big one: a custom Toshiba M700 tablet PC. My current laptop (dell x200) has served me well the past couple years, but it's pushing half a decade and is starting to really show its age. I'm not hurting for funds at this point, so I finally gave into a decade of tech lust and sprung for the tablet.

Once I get my computer stuff in order (may get a 1TB NAS), my next purchase will probably be a new phone (either a new iphone or the Sony Xperia1). I've got some research to do.

The latest thing I bought was some spice jars for my new kitchen. I already had the shelves and ordered the jars to fit, going by the measurements on the website; when they arrived the measurements turned out to be wrong! But it just means I ordered more jars than I need to fill the shelves, and other than that I'm happy with them.

The most expensive thing I've bought online is ﾂ≫??,000 worth of furniture from Ikea. I did go to the shop to look at it first though. I would be reluctant to spend that kind of money without seeing it in person!

I do buy a lot of stuff online, mainly because I am not very good with crowded shops, plus I'm lazy

I rarely go shopping nowadays, except for groceries.

I've bought my last two PCs on the internet, the last one worth about $2000, from a custom-built PC shop in Akihabara. For all other PC and stationery needs, I buy from Amazon.co.jp

I check prices at kakaku.com (the Japanese consumer opinion and price index website) and buy from the cheapest "respectable" shop on the Web.
The last great buy was my camera, a Canon Powershot G9, which was more than 20,000 yen cheaper than at Yodobashi or Bic Camera retailers.

I bought a japanese-english dictionary for nintendo DS.

I got a couple of books. "A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar" and "How to Sound Intelligent in Japanese". Now how cocky is that!

Before that I got the "kagome shokudou". A japanese movie filmed in Finland.

So far those are the only things I have ordered online. I'm getting a hang of it though!

I had tears of joy in my eyes when I finally found a copy of Tengoku ni ichiban chikai Otoko
Something tells me I might've bought a bootleg, but not even the huge Tsutaya in Shibuya had a copy of this old, old drama left and on my mission of watching everything "my" Yosuke Kubozuka appeared in for even a split second, I must take whatever I can get... I'm so happy, I hope it won't arrive (and be returned) while I'm in Israel....

I would also LOVE to buy the DVD "Song shu zi sha shi jian" or "Amour-legende", a Taiwanese movie with Yosuke Can't find it anywhere though, and that's just horrible because the trailers were so awesome I'm willing to dish out way more than the usual retail price!

I'm also gonna buy "Chikyuu Isshin vol. 1" once my credit card has recovered from my previous trip to Japan

窶喇 finally found the CD I had been looking for for the longest time!

There was this pop-rock/new wave band from Boston back in the 80s called Face To Face (Not to be confused with a California Punk band by the same name) that I used to be a huge fan of. They had a semi-hit with their debut single titled "10-9-8" and they also appeared in the movie, "Streets Of Fire" starring Michael Pare & Diane Lane (The lead singer Laurie Sargent provided the singing voice for Lane who played a rock singer in that film).

I found it on the HMV Japan site and it was a little under 2000 Yen. The music has aged a great deal and there are some embarrassingly bad moments but it didn't really matter. I am so happy with it. I still knew all the words. lol

Next up on my CD-Search-List ; The first two Sam Phillips albums, "The Indescribable Wow" and "Cruel Inventions".

Well, I just got my new credit card... SMBC Visa card, so I immediately went shopping, and bought myself the GOOGLE story.

I was thinking of buying a book about Ebay as well... but because there is no Ebay in Japan, it might be hard to do business with that. And I don't think there is a book about Yahoo Auctions in English, is there?

My quest to replace all my favorite records from the 80s on CDs continues.
My latest purchase was an album by Sandii & The Sunsetz. It's this "Best-Of" collection that I used to have on vinyl. It includes their hit Sticky Music, which was also a hit in Australia. Anyone old enough to remember that song?
And what a great song it is! The insanely catchy music was written by Haruomi Hosono of YMO fame. What can I say about Sandii... After nearly 30 years, her voice still gets me HOT!
It was definitely well worth the ﾂ??,300 I paid for it.

digital kitchen scale
electrical socket adapters EUR-->US (for my brother)

There may be more, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. I have a few more things on my list, though. Most of the things that I am used to using in day to day life are so hard to acquire here in America any other way than the internet (if you're picky about the maker, want metric, etc.)

Long live the internet! And Amazon.com to be specific!

They sell clothes and jewellery on Science themes. I got a periodic table T-shirt - the radioactive elements glow in the dark! - and Pi earrings. The service was good, it only took about 10 days to arrive here from the US and luckily I didn't get stung by customs!

I remember it! Boy does the name of that group bring back memories! What a small world ASHIKAGA-san. This may be hard to believe, but it's a fact. You know the guitarist for the Sunsetz Keni Inoye (aka Ken-chan as we used to call him)? Well, in the late, 70's I used to live with him and another person in Minami Rinkan (near Yamato on the Odakyu-sen) while he was an up and coming guitarist and would do small gigs at small bars in the area. We lived in a rented house and shared the rent as we were all poor. Me and the other guy were students and Ken-chan was looking for his break. I remember fondly the nights we used to spend in the house drinking and such while he and the other guy, or some others that would visit, would just pluck songs on the guitar coming up with new tunes and variations of style and such. We were all surprised and happy for him when he landed a spot with the Sandi and the Sunsetz.

I haven't seen him since then, but I hear he's doing well.

Thanks for the video ASHIKAGA-san. Yep that's Ken-chan on the left with the long hair and goatee alright. He looks a shade different without his glasses and Reggae hairstyle, but unmistakable. Thanks for reviving some fine memories which had lain dormant for many years in the recesses of my brain!

A Nintendo Wii! from Amazon in March
which didn't work and wouldn't read the disc. Upon calling Nintendo they were insistant that we return the item directly to them and not to Amazon and that they would return it or a new one within 2 weeks! what! I wanted to play the sports package NOW after my sister brought hers on a recent visit. I went out immediately to the local Best Buy Electronics store and bought one and returned the defective one to Amazon for which I received a prompt refund with no questions asked. I guess Nintendo was so insistant that we return it because they would probably have to pay a re-stocking fee or some other fee to Amazon for a defective product. Sorry about that Nintendo, but we wanted to play it the day we received it. Pick up your quality control.

In all honesty I have rarely had a bad experience with internet purchasing and have bought everything from jewelery to clothes to cameras on the internet. Besides, the shipping is usually free and there is no sales tax!

I just bought an optical mouse for the computer in my parents' house because all the ones they sell around here are cordless. I don't like cordless mice because then you have to replace the batteries.

I also bought something called a "Kill a Watt", which measures the energy use of whatever you plug into it. I had something similar in Japan, called an "EcoWatt", and it was really useful for me in determining my energy usage there, so I got one to help around here, too.

I bought the latest John Irving novel titled "Last Night In Twisted River". I've always been a big fan of his and when I found out that this one was out, I ordered it from amazon.

I am only 40 or so pages in now but so far, this reads like a vintage Irving. In the first 40 or so pages, we've already had a tragedy (or two), a visit by a bear and a what seems like a beginning of a relationship between a 16 yr old boy and an older woman.

I am very excited!

I opted for the express delivery and the total bill came to a little less than 3,000 yen.

Along with that, I bought a new book (in Japanese) on Japan-related fora on the Web and found a few JREF threads there!
