i'd suggest www.projectj.net to start you off. it has good information on a lot of jrock bands and good pictures too. and you can also listen to one song off an album of the artist. it may only be one, but hey, you don't want to download a whole bunch of songs and then find out you don't really like them do you consider it a taster
