"The number of crimes committed by girls in England and Wales has gone up by 25% in three years, according to figures.
The Youth Justice Board says girls committed 59,000 offences in 2006-07 - up 12,000 on 2003-4 but still far less crime than that committed by boys.
There were significant increases in minor assaults, robberies, public order offences and criminal damage.
Overall, there has been a 2% reduction in crimes committed by boys over the same period, the statistics show.
The total number of offences by those aged between 10 and 17 which led to police or court action was just over 295,000 - down from more than 301,000 in 2005-06, but still higher than three years ago.";

Personally, i'm pretty ashamed of some of my fellow women in society. I look down greatly upon women committing violent acts in particular against men- i know some may disagree with me on this, but i think women beating up men is even worse than men beating up women (because they know the man won't hit back because society has taught him not to, so the woman is completely abusing his better ethics etc, also i would imagine that it is particularly soul destroying to a man's ego/image and confidence to be beaten up by a women etc).
But i think the increasingly problem with female crime is a cultural one. I think too many people turn a blind eye to thuggish behavior amongst women (and although i hate to stereotype, such thuggish women tend to be of the lower class i.e. like chav's), and this only allows such groups of women to encourage and peer pressure their bad behavior onto other women.
I know of a group of women around my age who are friends with each other (although i certainly wouldn't call them a friend of mine) who fight each other for fun and have been known in town to beat up men- unfortunately they frequent a favorite pub of mine enough for me to know this to be true. They are fat and ugly and i hate it when they come to my fav pub in town since they always act so thuggish and rowdy, trying to pull guys like they are men and binge drinking all the time etc.
I don't get why such girls want to act this way? Its so unattractive! I mean, i'm all for gender equality and womens rights and stuff, but seriously, these women behave in a way that you would expect drunk male football hooligans would. This group of girls all encourage their unattractive behavior amongst themselves.
But these sorts of groups of women/girls are becoming ever so more common now days, personally i view them as an insult to the rest of us that actually try to act decently, attractively and intelligently.
With what to do about the violent and criminal girl/woman thing though, its a deep problem and it would need to be tackled from many angles (since i believe its a sort of cultural thing thats happening in society right now). I think the government could make a start in encouraging more positive role models for women and girls to aspire to in society- like actually promoting better celebrities and models, like ones which aren't renowned for being bimbo's which sleep around and are incredibly shallow, materialistic, egotistic and have been known to be violent and go binge drinking etc. There are too many celebrities (both male and female alike) who are famous for pretty much bugger all and who are hardly positive role models.
I also certainly think that people should be punished the same, regardless of their race, gender, religion etc- i've noticed that women often get lighter punishments for crimes in comparison to men though (although i'd have to say that all criminals aren't punished enough for their crimes in general in society now days), and this should not be the case.
What do you think about the increasingly problem with female crime and what can be done to tackle it etc?
