I am about to gradating with my Master in one of the top U.S university. I have been contacting with one of the financial institutions at japan and might get a entry level IT programmer position there. And wondering if any one could give an idea how much is the avg pay might be.
How much would an IT job pay at japan in a financial institutions

Did you work between your bachelor's and masters?ﾂ Depends on some factors. The institution, your work experience, and your leverage during the interviews mainly.
If you have no experience, you won't have too much room to negotiate, even though a masters degree is nice.ﾂ ﾂ Entry level, bilingual help desk positions start at about 5 million a year for foreigners with no experience (but a brain). I assume for someone in your shoes, between 6-8 million. It's not bad pay, but remember you could very well be putting in 12 to 14 hour days regularly. Also worth noting, when the markets are good, people start paying. If you either move to another firm, you can expect a 25% increase on your wage.
It is not a bad industry to be in, but there is no loyalty (on either side). They will lay you off in a heartbeat (I was told of my impending layoff on Xmas Eve!) and as such, many people will jump ship to the tune of a better offer.
