I have just read the Chobits manga, again, and it leaves me filling up. Yet there are somethings that don't move me at all. I can watch some emotional shows without shedding a tear, but if I hear a piece of music I really like, or if it is associated with a show I get really emotional about it. The worst thing to set me off is Fantine death in Les Miserable. That is such a brilliant show, but it leaves me as an emotional wreck at the end:(
Anyone else cried at movies, music or shows?:?

I can get moved by some music.....but I have never cried.

By the way, your join date is the same as my birthday 🙂

I haven't cried but I felt blue for ages after seeing 'schindler's list'. (I was 12 back then)

But don't get me wrong, not because I haven't known anything about WWII when I saw it, but because that film transported so much of the pain and desperation people must have felt, i couldn't cope with that. (Probably not a film for children though.)

I wouldn't really call it crying, but it was quite moving. The HBO mini-series "Band Of Brothers," about Easy company, a group of American paratroopers who dropped on D-Day during WWII, and their progression through the war was one of the most moving things I had ever seen. To see the conditions in which those men had to live, and die, created utter feelings of pity, wonder, and respect that I had never felt for anyone or anything. It also affected me personally due to the fact that one of my relatives who recently passed away had dropped on D-Day.

Other than that...not much of the literature and media I have seen has had that much of an emotional effect on me.

Well, I'll admit I got choked when the Enterprise was destroyed in Star Trek III. And when I finally saw Pink Lady, live and in person during their reunion tour in Yokohama three years ago, I nearly wept from joy at seeing my most beloved idols. Yeah, I know I'm weird, so sue me!

:D

I am pretty emotional. I get tearful at sad and happy stories, whether they are films or books, and like Nosey, some music makes me emotional too. There is a story that really gets me that recurs again and again in films and literature - when two people are in love but choose not to be together for some higher purpose. His Dark Materials is a good example. I cried buckets through that whole trilogy, especially The Amber Spyglass.

The last thing that really made me cry was the ending of A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin, book one of his series A Song of Ice and Fire. I don't usually like fantasy books, but those are excellent.

yeah...
im not a very emotional guy to be honest... im more of a "keep-it-al-inside" kinda person but chobits makes me cry :(... hehe aloen in my room of course with no-one in the house but still ... its like bambi... just sad hehe

Ohh~ I never used to cry when listening to music or watching TV... then I watched A.I (the movie).... and I couldn't stop crying for about 5 whole minutes. Now I'm an emotional wreck even when listening to music. I love classical music, and especially cello ballads set me off.

I dont really cry I feel sad but I dont show it I didn't even cry ,when my grandfather died....

Well Im a very emotional person I do feel sad with many things...but I really dont cry about everything. What really makes me cry is music!!! Specially with those songs I feel identify with. I became more emotional after my grandfather died. Before that I used to be a very cold person, but now Im not, I guess I kinda regret I didnt spend enough time with him the last days of his life and now I try to enjoy the ppl I love. Well that wasnt the point of the thread but yeah only music and some movies make me cry!

I hardly ever cry, and I've never cried at a movie, song or book. (It's not something I make myself hold back deliberately, it's just the way I am.)

The nearest I've ever come to crying at something like that is at certain songs (especially MUCC songs!). I'm not entirely sure why, because generally I can't understand the lyrics, and it's not even completely the emotion expressed through the music (it's not necessarily an 'unhappy' tune!), but it happens to me especially when I'm hearing particularly clear and intricate music. I just feel overwhelmed by talents of composition and execution. But I've never actually cried for real over a song - just felt funny inside.

I always joked about how I'd cry if I saw MUCC live, but when it came down to it, in reality I didn't.

Today I was translating a review of one of their concerts, and that brought it all back to me (it was written very expressively ^_^), which made me feel kind of cry-like inside, but once again, I didn't actually cry in reality.

Another moment that particularly stands out for me feeling 'emotional' was when watching the live Gackt/Kami duet of 'Regret' performance - piano and drums. The combination of the music and Kami's expression was really moving.

The last time I actually cried was when my father died, in 2000.

It is music that usually starts me off. Not only will a sad piece make me cry, but a good happy piece will make me feel good and happy. I will end up openly smiling when I hear a good cheerful piece of music. Sometimes, if it is a piece I have been looking forward to, the joy of listening will fill me up. I'm really a big softy at heart.😊

I have to admit, there are some songs that I can NOT restrain myself from dancing to. 😌 (Unless I'm driving at the time... 😊 )

I'm not all that emotional, but I'll tear up at random times. It's weird, because I'll have seen a movie 3 times, but the 4th time will make me choke up a bit.

I think the closest I got to crying outright was when I saw Phantom of the Opera in 7th grade. Unfortunately, I was with schoolmates and it REALLY isn't cool to cry at theatre when you're a 7th grade boy. :D
