How do you get to your work/school?

Usually I go to work by private jet.
There is a landing strip on the roof of my buiding.

Ah, I remember that one; the Harrier, a jet with adjustable thrust. I used to take those, but I upgraded to the Cobra Choppie !! Much faster, and a lot less noise, too.
I still take the Harrier for my doctor's visits; it's more comfortable and less waiting 'cuz I can just land in line without fuss.

It's in for service at the moment - the gearbox is playing up again.

Does it have 'whisper mode', like on Airwolf? That must be useful if you come home from the pub late, and you don't want to disturb the neighbours.

My mate picked up one at an auction for 5 pounds. And it was a 2 litre with alloy tassles and everything.

Oh those ones, I used to have one of those but got rid of it because I could never get to my work, and the signals they sent me started to get very aggressive.

Well, the place where I work is only a stone's throw from a nearby subway station, but it's also right in the middle of tourist trap central in downtown Philly as it's right across the street from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Words can't describe how crowded that area gets with tourists at midday!

I can kind of picture it from your discription although I've never been to Philadelphia. It kind of reminds me of midtown in Manhattan.
It makes me think that I shouldn't complain about tourists in my town who stop at where there is no stop sign or just pull over their car anywhere they want to.

Well, Philly's nothing like midtown Manhattan, but the Independence Hall area does have it's moments. between tourists on foot, tourists riding on double decker tour buses, tourists riding in quaint horse drawn carriages along with regular downtown vehicular traffic, we get quite a lot of congestion on a daily basis, even on Sundays!

I agree with you on the Persian/Arabian/Turkish/Oriental flying carpets although the qualities vary depending on make and model. Those retrofit with Japanese engines are known to make two complete rounds on the odometer if the engine oil's been changed regularly like every 1,000 km instead of the customary 2,000 or 3,000.

But my other favorite has got to be the Pope-mobile with a bullet-proof shield as a standard feature. It gives me the odd, surreal feeling that I've time traveled back to my 9th yr visit to Disneyland where pretty smiling dolls would sing, "It's a small world." Just to think of waving my hand in slow motion, blessing all the world thirsty for love brings tears to mine eyes...

Yeah, I really have to wrap up in the winter It's one of the large German models designed for about 10 people, and I find it a bit cumbersome for little me, especially as it has aged badly and doesn't respond well. There are also fraying problems with the left-hand leading edge which interferes with the airflow on left-hand cornering. Still, it's better than a broomstick - they're a real bugger on the long-distance, and you can't carry much luggage on them either.

Sounds like your mate got a good deal! I keep my eyes open - maybe one day I'll have enough money for the latest Japanese model. Italian are very nice, but my friend has one and says it's a little bit light on the handling...

I walk to work, and to university I do a mixture of walking and getting the bus..and no, that doesn't mean I get on the bus and pace up and down the aisle.

It sounds like Kinsao and Lexico have some sound knowledge of magic carpets - keep an eye on that fraying,though.
Also,I generally find that once the tassles go,you can forget it. Any garage mechanic worth his salt will tell you it's a write-off.

I would advice down-sizing,Kinsao. It's easier for parking and will use less fuel - after all, magic dust isn't getting any cheaper,is it?
If you're going to stick with magic carpets,have a look at the japanese ones you mentioned. Apparently,the new Honda corners like it's on rails.

Attach yourself to an e-mail - they are a lot more reliable IMO - as long as you are not a .exe file!
