How do you get to your work/school?

I just got my bike tuned up and started to ride to my work. I've been having such a great time with it. I am hoping it will make me healthier and stronger. Thank god the air around here is clean.

How do you get to your work or school?

I usually drive, but today I rode my bike. I can only do it in the summer because I get off work at 8p and I don't want to be riding my bike in the dark in the winter.

heh, i walk to school, it's only 5 minutes from my home

but when i went to French and will again this coming year in another uni, i will have to take bus, tram etc, i live out in the by the border of the city soooo takes a while to get in the center. But no walkin or bike riding here, maybe summer only, Brussels is 2 chilly for me, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, i have my scarf and gloves and everything, oh no is getting that time of year again

I'm Stuck......

using my car since my job location changes every hour or two. I have a half hour usually between patients to make it from one to the next. I get to see a lot of different homes and neighborhoods in my job. I'm glad traffic in Maine is usually light, so traveling between jobs is easy.

London Tube system or the buses. Even with the recent "problems" that we have been having, I still love using them... even though they may be cramped and uncomfortable.

Well I live at school - the wonders of the dorm system. But to get to class I bike, weather permiting, otherwise I walk. To get home I need to fly then drive .

Drive. Traffic is horrible in Honolulu everyday, except Sunday and evenings.
There's plans to install a rail system, but that's not gonna happen soon and would cause tax to go up...

It gets as cold as -20F in the winter where I live, so I don't think I'm going to ride my bike then.
I can ride along the lake and nice in the summer, but I don't think I can handle cutting the wind through with the iced up lake next to me.

yeah well, this year ill have to go everyday at 9 am at a french course like half a city away takin trams and what not and being all from the mediterranean this chilly climate is like my kryptonite, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr just thinking about it makes me wanna put my scarf again

don't get me wrong is not like super cold, but it gets to under 0 celcius several times during the winter, and that's cold for me

I drive, and that is terrible, seeing that where I work is only about 1 mile from where I live. I'm such a lazy git, but getting up at 5:30 in the morning and finishing around 4:00 in the afternoon the last thing I want to do is walk.

I am lucky, that my work place is near enough that I can walk it takes 20 minutes and it is good for thinking time and unwinding.

With 95*F weather and 100% Humidity = 120*F Heat index, I must be out of my mind to walk to work that is only a 20 minute walk. I'm definately driving!

Then for my regular job I drive an 18 wheeler 237 miles each way = 434 miles.

Total=554 miles or 886km! :car:

I usually leave my house at 7:30pm and am back home by 5:45am (unless there is an accident that holds me up for an hour or two. But that is rare.) Not too bad if you enjoy it. The hours are great!

The worst part of the bullet experience is they turn on the air conditioner every 5 minutes, and then gradually turn it off unawares... they must be huge in the red to be that energy sparing. I mean I can live with reasonable frugality, but not to subhuman levels of unbreathable air. I talked to people and I'm not alone to complain. Do you think I should start a petition drive to audit dishonest business practices... perhaps funneling monies not into the train service but elsewhere...N.Korea ? Spells conspiracy...Aaaarrgghh !

I get chauffeured by my husband. Someone asked me the other day if I can drive. I said, it depends what you mean. If you mean, have I passed my test, then yes. If you mean, can I drive, then I would have to say no.

I guess i am among lucky ones. I take bus in the morning (arrives almost at the same time) and can walk back home if i feel like this (about 1/2 an hour or 40 min)
And i have 7,2 hours work day (women`s privilege - 1 hour shorter ), and don`t forget 1 hour lunch break
So, if there is no any rush at job, can get home about 18:15... not too bad, not too bad

Holy cow! That's a lot of driving!

Once in a while, I kind of miss the convevience of public transportation they have in Japan, but I much prefer having my own space than being pushed by other people in a crowded train.

And it's all done usually in 10 hrs from the time I leave my house, till I return home! But I really enjoy it though. I get paid for driving safe and listening to the satellite radio! What could be better?

In Japan though I think I'd rather ride public transportation than face that traffic again. I remember taking a trip to Aomori by car one summer. From Aomori to Tokyo it took about 6 hrs at night. Smooth driving all the way. However, from Tokyo to my home in Yokohama it took 5 1/2 hrs to travel about 45km! The Shuto and Tomei expressways were packed beyond anything I previously experienced!

However, when I do move back to Japan again, I'm sure we'll own a car again as there is something to be said for taking a trip outside the cities at one's leaisure and I do love to drive.

Wow, that's pretty crazy.
Highways in Japan, especially near the cities, are not really highways. I think that's because there are so many tolls with only one or two booths open.

I remember in Japan, there are people who used a ferry, left Chiba and arrived at Tokyo, to get to their work, just like the one from Staten Island to Manhattan in NY. That seems kind of like a good way to have your thoughts together before and after work.

Usually I go to work by private jet.
There is a landing strip on the roof of my buiding.
I then slide down a fireman's pole and land in my seat, where there is a pint of champagn waiting for me and 5 servants to do my bidding.Honest.
Other times I just get the bus.
