As for this foreigner thing, I've heard one too many times from my so-called J-friends(girls) that they would love to have not only a foreign boyfriend, but also just generic friends to walk around with so that everyone would think they were cool. No shame. Just come right out and said it!
It's all good, though, because relatinships built on that aren't going to last anyway. I think many people are guilty of that way of thinking. Usually everyone is interested in something different. There was a time in college when I wanted nothing but a foreign guy. I dated a French guy, a Swiss guy, and a couple of English guys. I thought they were better just because they were foreign. Of course, I got out of that notion and then married a Japanese guy purely by accident. Well, kind of. Not because of that foreign novelty issue, anyway.
The relationships that are not fueled by purely fascination/infatuation with another's nationality are more than likely the ones that are going to last.
