Hey all,
this place seemed kind of nifty so I thought I would sign up. I'm a university student wrapping up my degree and I'm beginning to plan for the post graduation void. I had a big interest in Japan as a kid/young teen (anime, video games, samurai , ninja etc), then it fizzled as my passion shifted to China. As my interests in East Asia increased, the Japanese fascination came back. I love learning about Buddhism, Zen especially, and the history of how the region has come to be.
Once I've finished my degree and saved up a little bit of money, I plan to get TEFL certified and go teach English, hopefully in Japan. I'm also slowly chipping away at learning Japanese. I've got hiragana down and will be starting katakana shortly. Despite my interest in Japan I don't really know anybody who lives there or has travelled there frequently, so I'm hoping to get to know some cool new people by the time I get there!
