I work part-time for a German branch of a Japanese newspaper, and yesterday, there were only two of us, the secretary and me, which meant I had to answer the phone quite a bit. Eventually, the situation I always feared, took place: I answered a call by someone from Japan who didn't speak English, which meant my meager keigo skills were up for a test.

Well, I did reasonably well, used constructions like "おりません", "ご存知ですか", and "お待たせしました"。 I eventually succeeded in telling her our correspondent's email address. Needless to say, I'm pretty damn proud of myself, perhaps I'm really getting better at this sort of thing. This is it? I think it is. Thanks for your time. :p

Are you in japan?
I want to work in japan but I am afraid my skills in speaking japanese are not good enough yet.
Congrats none the less.
