Ah, yes, I am very elusive.

I don't know how much I can help you. I don't know that much about Gackt besides that he used to be in Malice Mizer, has done a lot of acting and is very entertaining in interviews. Not much to go on. ☝ We shall see what the other more knowledgeable people on this forum have to say.

Did I spell 'knowledgeable' right?

that is the only reference that seem to be there about it though. I have mixed feelings about it... but it will be good to see Gackt totally out hot and out cool Josh Hartnet! .. not that I have anything specific against Josh Hartnet... I just don't get the attraction in the slightest!
 
i clicked the link about the movie... :D it really made me laugh. i cant imagine it... gackt in hollywood...i feel ambivalent -he sure will be successful and the group of his fans will expaaaand... but im a bit selfish and i dont want movie fans to have gackt :box: and as i dont like hollywood i dont want him there... [image of scarlett johanson next to gackt...noooo!] dont beat me, my opinion.

anyway, i'm not the right one to say anything. since my career as a gackt fan end with MOON and moon child. i like him still. gackt is my moon child forever <3

Yay! 😎 Gackt in an American movie! He will so rock! 👍

I am a little torn. I want everyone to know him and think he is great, but I also would like to keep him all to myself. Or, you know what I mean. For us fans who actually know how talented he is as a musician, not just an actor.
 
Primelajule - oh yeah... man I need to pay attention! lols! ... I could swear that wasn't there when I was last on here... but post dates say it was :S I think I'm just going mad!

I'm torn about the movie too... it will be amazing to see Gackt on the big screen... but the influx of fangirls who like "the pretty Japanese boy from that film with josh Hartnet" will possibly be unbearable.

I hate Josh Hartnett too! Ah, if only he could be in a movie with more likeable actors...oh well.

He is not going to be a main character is he? :? Will he be the on the side somewhat main character? You know, the one who has a pretty big part but is not the main character person. Or is he just an extra who has a few more lines than everyone else? Hmm...I wonder

Well, Gackt will be appearing once again on the big screen in a new movie that窶冱 set to come out in 2009 called 窶廝UNRAKU窶? This time, however, it窶冱 a Hollywood flick that will feature both Josh Hartnett and Demi Moore.

Last year someone from Hollywood apparently noticed Gackt窶冱 performance in the NHK drama 「風林火山」 (Fuurinkazan), and well, look where it got him. The screenplay for the movie and directing are under control of Guy Moshe and Gackt, or Yoshi as he窶冱 apparently called in the film, is the samurai partner to the protagonist (played by Hartnett).
Gackt commented on his decision to perform in the movie and among other things, he窶冱 said that he feels honoured to be recognized around the world for his role on Fuurinkazan. He also stated that he feels it is necessary for him to be a part of this movie and feels as if one of his dreams has come true with this opportunity.

The film is named after a type of traditional Japanese puppet theater, but the universe it is set in also draws inspiration from origami, video games, and other sources. Hartnett plays a drifter on a quest for revenge. Gackt will play his companion, a samurai named Yoshi.
Filming began in Romania during the middle of this month. The movie is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters in 2009, but no release information for Japan has been announced yet.
 
sweet it's official! But I gotta say, not loving gackt's look, he looks too much like a chick in that pic...I fear for the reaction of USA moviegoers XP

We are complaining about people only liking Gackt for his looks and not all of his many talents. And yes there are quite a few fans who think he is just good looking but there are just as many if not more fans who actually care about his accomplishments.

agree. i didnt like his look either '-'
but gackt is gackt. and just for this he can be a little not good looking sometimes 'w'

its a really cool thing he playing a big part in the film

I think it will all depend on how big the film itself gets. If it's not *too* big and commercialised then I think Gackt's fan base will remain pretty much the same, however if it's set to be a huge block buster... with merch left right and centre... then it'll be a different story... although it will be nice to walk into a shop and be able to buy a huge *** picture of Gackt!

We shall have to see... I will actually go to the cinema to see this one... I've pretty much stopped going as my nearest cinema costs £7 for a ticket... I'll leave everyone not familiar with pounds to do the conversion! However, that's little to spent on seeing Gackt on the big screen! ^-^

I'm actually quite excited now I know it's official... although still fear the potential fangirls. :S
