I agree with you that Hyde probably doesn't know much about Satan or the significance of those symbols. He said it as much when he explained why he chose the title 666 for his album. (He said he just liked the number.) I view it as Hyde's fascination of religious icons in the west, like the fascination towards samurai/bushido by the west.

However, I do not think the naming of the album or his choice of accessories was just a ploy to take his image into another direction. Checking on centigrade-j briefly, I could find at least three songs from L'Arc~en~ciel (the band Hyde belongs to) that have some association with the devil -- Shout at the Devil, Route 666 and Sell my Soul. The songs were released well before Hyde's solo days. It shows his early interest in the area. Perhaps you can judge his understanding of it by his lyrics?

"Shout at the Devil" is originally a song title of an american metal band, Motley Crue.
About Hyde using Satanic references... I don't think so, nowdays the number 666 is just sooo common and "cool"... It's hard to think on a popular Idol like Hyde releasing an album with that name, but it's Japan, so people not will be complaining about if he is satanic or not, in Japan the christianism is 1%.

I agree with allot of what people have said the pic CIMA posted was an ugly picture but also old. I mean if they wanna bash Gackt's looks why not focus on current looks? I know people posted more current pics and whatnot but this is in regards to the original message posted. I think Gackt's sexy and ugly at the same time. I mean sure he's nice looking(or at least that's what people say) and considering how much the camera loves him he has to be decent according to the majority, but in another way he's just scary.. and I'm just repeating myself. But that's just my personal opinion. I think his songs are good, I mean his style in the lyrics and whatnot change but I still enjoy his music. Furthermore I think his voice is nice, I mean sure its not exactly what you usually here but I think other voices sound almost fake in a way, where as Gackt's seems more down to earth and natural, more masculine, as are his looks. But all in all it really just depends on your personal preference and what you find good looking and what you don't, ya know?

But one last thing, as for the people that say the music should matter more. Well the guy is all over the japanese media, as allot of people say the guy's a media ***** and he does anything for fame and people may be more attracted to the commercials he does, or photoshoots he's done, or even the move moon child. So no his music shouldn't matter more, it'll matter according to the person. If he was solely on music then yeah that would make sense, but he's not.
As for the plastic surgery thing, he never got it in my opinion. As for the insulting the other person's opinion, get a life.

All a matter of opinion. Some might rebut that Tetsu of laruku and Klaha are not so great looking either. Personal taste doesn't give a logical reason. With that said, I think Gackt is a very good looking man. Tetsu and Klaha also

Did anyone notice that on the hot or not picture, he was a 'her'. I'm a recent fan of his musicand indeed him and I must say he's got a very lovely voice. If he's had plastic surgery, it's his choice; you don't know what standards people set for themselves.
