Hi everyone,
I'm from Bavaria in Germany. When I was 16 I started to learn Kung Fu, and thus came into contact with the Asian cultural sphere (my master is Thai). I discovered that Buddhist thought hold many answers to questions I had always asked but society couldn't answer.
Well, since I've also always had a knack for languages, I began teaching myself Japanese, and finally, after school, decided to make it my major. Japan was to become my "gateway to asia", and, as it turned out, to a deeper understanding of myself, what constitutes a self and the world around it.
I'm now a student of Japanology, my secondary subjects are German as a foreign language and general typological linguistics (formerly intercultural communication, but I switched once I had grasped the basics because the curriculum was lame). My areas of specialty are Japanese society, a bit of history, Languages That Hardly Anyone Speaks and of course my own language, its didactics and its many dialects (especially Bavarian).
I hope I will meet some nice people here and learn many interesting things.

Welcome to the forum. I liked your introduction, Satchテエtohi.

I live in the mountains too. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

Thanks for all the flowers. :)
I hope I can contribute something useful to this forum.

A little late, but better than never...I'm sure you'd agree !! I extend my hearty greetings from the center of Japan...Nagano!! It sounds that you may well be much better informed in things Japanese than I myself--even though I've been here for 21 years!! Wow...nice !

I'm sure you will enjoy the forum, and I do hope to hear from you. Post when you can, there are many things to talk about, to share and to learn. See you 'round !!🙂
