What I mean by addicted is that if you are online in facebook for almost more then 4 hours a day.

I know I am. Everytime I turn on my computer, the first thing I got to do is use Facebook. There is no chance in hell that if you see me on the computer there won't be any facebook on. 😍 "I'm In Love With Facebook!!!" (Wait... WHAT?!)

No, I am not addicted, I spend about 5 to 10 minutes daily on facebook. where as I have not closed jref in the month i have been here, and I keep gmail open for reply notifications :p

That means you are addicted to JREF, eh? Congrats! 🙂

I joined FaceBook because of my wife , LOL.

I bet her I could get more friends , faster than her. I think she is up to 73 friends now and I have about 1400. I have to admit that out of the 1400, I know about 30 of them. The rest just popped up as friend sugestions , and I clicked on them. With so many friends though, I must get about 25 requests a day to do with the games on FaceBook like Farmville. I just click ignore on all of them , since I do not play any of the many games available there. I spend all my spare time on JREF shooting down SPAMMERS , LOL.

:D

I have facebook profile and it depends on my mood how long I am online...but as I am computer and internet addict I spent a lot of time on forums, twitters, chats and so on...so I'd say that I'm addicted to internet overall xD

I'm addicted. A few months ago I wouldn't even join, because the only thing I'd seen other people use it for was to find old school friends, which I had NO desire to do. Anyway, people kept talking about it here and I heard you could play games and other stuff there so I decided to give it a go.

I didn't add anyone from real life at first - not even my husband! I'm not very good at social situations, so I wanted to make sure I didn't feel like an idiot there before I started adding people from real life. Uncle Frank was my first friend there, followed by my other JREF friends. After a couple of months I added my family and other people from real life. But I've stuck to my guns about not adding people from school, and I also haven't added any work colleagues, as the last thing I need in my spare time is to be reminded of work!

I'm only online when my husband's at work, and I usually have three tabs open: Gmail to chat with my husband, Facebook and JREF. I'm a complete convert to Facebook for two reasons. One, I just don't feel I've really enjoyed something until I've shared it, whether it's an interesting article, a photo of my rabbit or a game I'm playing. Two, I can keep in touch with people without having to actually speak to or meet them.

I was determined Facebook wasn't going to lead to my meeting people in real life, but just this week I arranged three meetings, which I'm pretty excited about, so I didn't keep that promise to myself!

Anyway, maybe the length of this reply gives you an idea of how addicted I am LOL.

I was a bit like Tsuyoiko when it first came to FB. Didn't want to know. Then I met someone I hadn't seen for a year and found out her mother had died (I also knew her mother). She mentioned I would have known if I was on FB, so I joined to keep in contact with friends I usually do not see on a regular basis. Over time I have friends added from Jref and even my cousin in the US. There are also a few I have conversed with on the discussion boards on FB.

Nowadays I will check in everyday, but I also do that with Jref. It's a habit I do once I get in from work; Jref, Eupedia, FB, RatSkep and LoR (League of reason). FB is the one I will check back with more often probably because it is more flowing than forums. I spend most of my time playing silly games or on a couple of the groups I have joined. Currently grown bored of Framville, but still play Mafia Wars.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted to it as I am to the Internet, but like JREF (even JREF has a page), the tab is always open while I'm surfing or reading.

I swore I would never get on FB until I got an invite from an old friend to check out his pictures. In order to see his pictures I had to join, so I did. At first, I didn't communicate much as I thought it wasn't for me, but I kept my account open. Then someone from JREF "friended" me and another, etc.; an old childhood friend that I haven't seen or heard from in 40 years found me and another and another and so on, and a few from Japan, and my university, and the rest is history.

There are people I am re-connected with whom I never thought I would see again after we lost touch so many years ago back in New York when I moved to Japan. Someone from our neighborhood started a Facebook page based on that neighborhood and street name and it has enabled many of us to re-connect. We were all so close in that neighborhood, but everybody moved away and Facebook has gotten us all together again even though we are spread around the country and the world.

Overall I find Facebook to be a fascinating website with many things to do and, as mentioned above, it is very free flowing and much better than Twitter which I tried for maybe a day or two. At least on Facebook, the names are real and you know who you're dealing with and I only "friend" those I actually know from real life or from the internet, like JREF friends.

Like Tsuyoiko, I enjoying sharing, and receiving information as well as sharing pictures from my daily drive which I can upload instantly from my phone and I enjoy seeing what others are doing in their daily life. It's also a great way for keeping up with people I enjoy listening to or reading or watching on TV like Dr. Michio Kaku, as you don't have to go to their websites. It's amazing how many programs, products, interests, etc., have a page on Facebook.

It's not for everybody, but I find it a great way to stay in touch with people whom I enjoy interacting with on the internet and I do hope to meet some of them one of these days in person.

I think like a lot of people here I was reluctant to join at first, probably because everyone else was doing it, I had a myspace and I wanted to be a little rebel. But I eventually caved and learned to like it more than myspace. I used to stay logged in 24/7 but recently I log out every time I'm done with FB and usually only stayed logged on for a minute at most to check notifications. So, I guess I'm addicted in the sense that as a habit I check it every day, but I don't constantly stay logged on.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted to it as I am to the Internet...

Aren't we all lol

FB has become part of my daily routine. What I like most about the FB now is the Oldies Video page that I'm a fan of. I love watching the old singers and musicians--something I didn't get to watch as a kid living in Japan! :music:

I know a lot of people find old pals there, but I don't, since a lot of "old ladies" in my generation, especially those in Japan, don't know much about the Web. I need to get connected them for real...
On top of that, my kids have refused connecting to me, and I don't want my relations to see my posts on the Web...
Boy, am I alone on the Web!! :D

Like many others who have posted here its become a daily habit. The first things I do when my comp is up and running is check email, check youtube, check FB, check jref and I repeat that process unorderedly every 20 mins or so. Before I used to not care so much, it was pretty useless to me but all my friends were using it etc, eventually I found it to be pretty alright, keeping in contact with people after finishing certain things together just to see how they're doing and all that. I think its pretty neat.

I check FB everyday, but only for about 10 to 15 minutes. It's nice to have friends on it whom I haven't met for ages.

I am looking forward seeing the movie:

I don't spend a whole lot of cumulative time on it, but I check it fairly frequently when I can. Just leaving a tab open in case someone wants to send me a message, etc. I consider it "passive use," like leaving the TV on while you do other things.

however, if i'm unable to check facebook (or any of the sites I habitually visit) I find myself very irritable. I think this is something that goes beyond just addiction to a single website, but rather it's the short attention span and impatience with technology that comes from growing up in this modern world. And I think the younger generations will suffer even more from this attitude.

i used to but not anymore. i even deactivated my acc for 6 month but then i back for the sake of pics sharing w/ my friends & family. i almost never post anything 'tho. only check it via notifications in my email, if it needs reply asap then i'll login.

i'm more active in twitter. where annoying ex-classmates & relatives aren't there.

I am not addicted to Facebook. I am there, max 1 hour. Unless if someone starts talking to me there, then I stay there longer XD And I check it daily =3

I think that I will be more addicted to this forum xD IDK yet, because I registered here today :P
But I know a forum like this one, and I am there also very active :D
So I guess that I will be here very active also :D

FB is a great tool to reunite with the friends I got to know through business or from school days but lost contact.
I wish I had more time to spend on it, I'm falling behind... :(
