First date, what should you do, and what shouldn't you do... what advice do you give to people who will have a first date..

Do
1. Be on time - The last thing you want to do is make a bad impression on your date. If you are late they will think that you don`t care and worse still might not hang around for you to turn up.
2. Make your partner feel comfortable - We all feel like a bag of nerves on our first date with someone; so by making them feel comfortable you will also be able to relax and enjoy yourself.
3. Be an interesting date - The worse thing you can do is turn up for a date with someone then sit there all night and talk or worse still talking and not making sense or having nothing good to talk about.
4. Laugh at their jokes - Even if you have heard the joke 100 times or more (or it just isn`t funny at all) laughing a long with them will make them feel you are interested in them.5. Keep the conversation alive - That dreaded silence when no one knows what to say can seem to last for a life time and will make both of you think the other is boring. Jot down a few questions you would like to ask. Practicing for the date can make all the difference and once you have started the rest will just follow.
6. Take an interest in them - Listen to them when they are talking. Be interested in what they have to say and show how interested you are by asking them questions about what they like to do etc..
7. Take them somewhere unique - First dates don`t just have to be about going to the cinema or to a restaurant for a nice meal. You will make a longer, lasting impression if you are imaginative with your date.
8. Be confident - Confidence says a lot about a person. Being more confident will help you get through that first date with ease.
9. Be yourself - You won`t fool anyone by pretending to be someone you are not. Also if you are wanting to continue seeing them, the real you will come out eventually and they may no longer be interested.
10. Most importantly - STAY SAFE.

Don't
1. Be late - First impressions count and if you are late this will make them think of you as lazy, having lack of responsibilities, etc..
2. Talk about yourself all night - There is nothing worse then a person that loves to talk about themselves all the time. How vain can you get?
3. Talk about past relationships all night - May be that`s how you lost the last one. Nobody wants to hear you drone on about your ex and what they did or didn`t do. Concentrate on this one and see if you can get to the second date.
4. Eat with your mouth open - Just the thought of it makes my stomach turn so save your date the horrible experience.
5. Ask too many personal questions - This is your first date and they won`t want to reveal to much about themselves just yet. If you like each other and want to continue with the relationship then there will be plenty of time to ask questions.
6. Try to be something you are not - You will only attract the way that you act and if that is not the real you, when the real you does come out the other person will not be interested. Find someone that will want you for you not for what you are pretending to be.
7. Forget to thank them for the date - Not only is this good manners but this is where you will get your chance to end it if you are not interested or for you to ask them out on another date if you would like to see them again.
8. Propose marriage or kids - Unless you don`t want to see them again.
9. Pursue sex after your partner has said no
10. Don`t get drunk - You don`t want to spend half the night in the toilet vomiting and your date won`t think much of you. You can also put yourself at risk of unwanted advances and will not be in the right frame of mind or body to do anything about it.

p.s. I did not wrote this, its just something I found somewhere, and wanted to share it with you people

dayum dutch baka, it looks like you just saw sm new romance comedy movie out there and got all inspired :p

U are rite about havin unique places, but smth normal and casual is fun 2. A good scary movie that can get her a bit up jumpy and havin to rely to u for safety is good... then takin her to some nice cozy dim lit restaurant/bar is just good to end the night.. havin a chat about day to day things likes and dislikes makin jokes.. makin yourself seem a bit mysterious... makin her wantin to find more. What you shouldn't do is give up all ur triks and all special places and in one first date i tell you that.

LOL, those are some good advice.
For both males and females, I would say.

Do:
1 Compliment her - Try to comment her looks, her scent, her personality, her thoughts or any other postitive things. Though do not overdo it cause that will only make it "Fake" so that she/he will think your just a Braindead person with points of view of your own. A guideline would be 1-2 comments at tops for a first date. then after 1 or 2 dates you can expand to 2-3 but no more. when going steady remember to comment all the time but still with emotion so that it doesn't seem as empty air.

2. be funny, warm and emotional - A smile and a good attitude is always good. if you complain about everyday stuff in your life, the counterpart will get tired of you quickly. Whereas the warm guy who thinks good about everything in the average days would charm the couterpart much more. Remember to laugh with a relaxed feeling so that it doesn't sound forced or too loud.

Dont:
1. Talk nonsense - If the discussion dies, instead of just start throwing out words with no meaning or too confusing sentenses, it would be just as bad as not saying anything at all. Though after you get a little more intimate mindless babble would become fun for both sides (but not healthy in the long run)

2. Bring up bad stuff - Like talking about terror attacks, accidents or other threats in the global world. This will either be boring, or making it looks like you have a far too troubled mine if you bring up such stuff up on a date (where its supposed to be the two persons that is most impertant and not the world or other people)

Don't!!

invite your first date into your living space if it is a toxic dump! I picked up a date and she invited me in while she finished getting ready, gave me nightmares! 17 cats & 3 dogs, dog & cat feces everywhere with the little baby crawling around in it. All 3 kids in filthy clothes with snot running down their faces. Dirty dishes piled high in the sink and all over the kitchen. I had a hard time not calling Health & Human Services to come take her kids away and the SPCA to save the animals! She finished our date off by getting drunk and throwing up all the way home, AND, a big ol French kiss good night. I think I put a whole roll of life savers in my mouth to kill the tase, UGH! I wonder if she had a clue why I didn't call her for a second date?

Things NOT to say on your first date.

I really don't like this restaurant that much, but I wanted to use this 2-for-1 coupon before it expired.

I used to come here all the time with my ex.

I never said you NEED a nose job. I just said it wouldn't hurt to consider it.

Could you excuse me? My cat gets lonely if he doesn't hear my voice on the answering machine every hour.

I really feel that I've grown in the past few years. Used to be I wouldn't have given someone like you a second look.

And I won that trophy in the inter-fraternity belching contest.

It's been tough, but I've come to accept that most people I date just won't be as smart as I am..

Sorry, I have to make a quick stop in the mens/ladies room, the Olestra must be seeping out.

"You know whats satisfying?, finally being able to scratch off a scab from a healed up itchning wound, man, , sa-tis-fy-ing!, though if it doesnt get to heal properly it can start to bleed and seep and that can get messy and leave a scar, anyway, hows your dinner, you dont seem very interested in it, not as good as it looked?, hehe...you know, its silly but, those meat bits in the sauce remind me of this really big monster of a scab i had on my knee once....wait....where are you going?....to the toilet?....the toilet?....okay......ill just wait for you here......HEY!, YOU DONT MIND IF I HAVE YOUR DINNER SINCE YOUR NOT EATING IT?, IM STARVING!"

Okay on my first date I did for DO:
1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10.

for DON'TS:
1...I was abit late, like 5 minutes. 😊

actually that's it for the don'ts I think. My first date was good(March 25th, 2005). We went to the cinema together to see Ring 2. NOT a good film but good date none-the-less. =p

Well, i'm new here, but I have to pipe up and say that laughing at all their jokes might be pushing it sometimes.

Might be a bit too much if you start laughing at the 'seemingly' funny things they say. Don't want to look like you are trying hard.

Be honest, but bend the branches of that honesty. A first date is about impressions, so if you have to say something is funny when to you it isn't, then so be it.
But don't be seen to be giving the same reaction every time they require a laugh as a response. You may end up looking like a pushover.

Just be yourself, if you cant be yourself around a woman and she cant accept you for who you are there is no future in it so theres no point carrying on the relationship.

Of course if its just short term casual sex, feel free, a few white lies and a false impression can do more wonders then admitting to being a mere mortal after all.:p
