Many people prefer to believe in God without having following a specific religion, they prefer having their own way of life to support their belief of God

what do you think and why.....
I prefer to post this thread here instead of the Religions discussion group so everyone can participate
but, please.......no off topic posts

There are things that are hard to explain in the world, and believing in God, I think, helps people avoid entangled in these unanswered questions. Following some specific religion could be taxing. Rules that required could make one's life more restricted in many ways. It might be, under these circumstances, people prefer believing in God without subscribing for a particular religious belief.

simple comment

hi Hime >< hope you in good health and good work in Ex ..
i wonder why you're very intersting to post religious threads in this forum .
you're like me when i was new here and i think you're best more than me in this discussions , but I think read this proverb
لاتنام بين القبور ولا تشوف منامات وحشة ...... وقصدي أنو لاتوجعي راسك مع الأجانب هون
and I don't mean any thing and that my opinion ...... 😌

NOW ..........

every one believe that the God create every thing and he's also adorable , but every one has own way to worship...

people until now worship various things like (animales, fire ,sky, statue) or every thing that you can image it. but why did they do that ???

they think that this statue or anything will approach to the God. it means :
they want to worship their God via someone like intermediary , and as you know they give him (the statue) the eating and drink ... and my friend told me that when he's in Japan ..

To worship your God ,you have to be faithful and have innocence intention and have live call with your God ....

Not everyone worships a god. I do not believe in the existance of god/s, and there are a few others on the forum who feel the same.
There are those that do believe in a deity of some discription, but do not worship it, they just believe in it.
You'll find in some beliefs that the creator god is believed to be so far above humans that it doesn't care whether you worship it or not. The worship is carried down to lesser gods in the pantheon.

I suppose the simple answer to your question is, no. Case and point, I can believe a penguin deity created everything, but not have to follow a "religion" in order to believe that.

If you want to follow one of the Abrahamic religions then it is more than likely you have to follow the religion to truly believe in their god. It's just how it is structured, really.

Although I suppose even then you could choose to believe in God and not follow the religious way of life. Plenty of superficial people do that. It's just you might end up in Hell.

I believe in God, but I really don't consider myself to have a religion. In a sense, all religions are the same, which is why I don't really like going to church. I can be a good person and not go to church, doesn't really mean I'm a bad person.

All churches have their own beliefs in what God is, and all this stuff. But to me, God is god, he created us.

I guess it's weird for me to be saying this, seeing as I grew up Mormon. 😌

My views of God stem from the fact that I don't really believe in a God who is actively involved in the world. Which is why I'm a deist (of sorts). To me, if God does exist, that doesn't mean God has to be involved in his creation. Which is why I reject religion. Essentially, if there is God, he doesn't intervene in human affairs, he's not required to. Like religion teaches that God is involved with his creation. Hell, he probably doesn't care what happens to mankind.

So no, I don't believe you need religion to believe in God.

Though I am leaning towards being agnostic. There's no real way of knowing.

Religion has positive benefits and most were created out of a genuine sense of awe and love for what was perceived to be a great spiritual entity worth worshipping. Most major religions began as some form of sun worship, because to peoples who were not aware of the existence of the sun as a star, (moreso seen as a glowing ball in the sky, doing battle with it's dark brother the moon) it certainly appeared to have amazing powers. The power to grow crops, the power to illuminate the world and make it safe for passage, etc. I will not try to appear smart and hide the fact that most of that opinion really came to bear for me after watching Zeitgiest, because it tied together so many different things so succinctly for me and a lot of other people I think. But I would add that I had long since discarded Christianity by that point. In watching that documentary I enjoyed discovering what I now believe to be Christianity's true history and roots, punctuating my long-held disdain for it. It was moreso an icing (a very interesting and enjoyable icing) on the cake.

What prompted me to discard my mother religion in the first place was firstly my own sense of having not been answered despite an earnest attempt to connect to God in my youth. I prayed and asked serious questions but Judeo-Christian religion continually dropped the ball. I also came to realize while studying in Uni. that governments have used religion as leverage for centuries upon centuries to control people and have also used it as an excuse to wage wars. In fact its such a useful tool that political powers have modified, changed, augmented and created religions for these ends alone. Aside from these obvious negative consequences, there are also the personal issues religion creates because it pits people against their nature as human beings, again often because they're trying to please their God and in doing they also indirectly follow the bidding of political powers who don't want them acting up, or who want them acting a certain way.

Science is another religion if you ask me, although a different kind of beast. I think Science is a tool, something we used to understand nature and energy and ultimately God, but in and of itself it is not complete and is also severely corrupt as of late.

The only thing I think that's necessary to find God is a sense of spirituality and an open mind. Seeing the spirit and life in things around you, understanding that by definition we are all one energy and are separated by the thinnest of veils, knowing that there is much we cannot see but that there is still much around us, (absence of proof is not proof of absence, call it faith if you want but I prefer to call it the middle ground between faith and science; knowing in theory, logically, there should be more, but accepting that you're not able to see it in your current state) and accepting the idea that perhaps we are not alone in the universe and have yet to expand our knowledge base and definition of what we really are. These are all things that in my mind major Western religions do not teach and therefore they cannot be used to understand God.

Eastern traditions are a whole different ball game, and while all religions are susceptible to abuse I don't think one could argue that Eastern traditions are quite as horribly abused and misguided to the same degree these days. Haven't seen any oil wars waged, markets blown up, or people stoned/hanged in the name of Buddha as of late.

and as I said before it's personal case and don't think what other think ..

Perhaps it depends on how you define "God" but I do not think religion is a norm to believe in God.
To me God is a greater existence than human being and I feel that it is necessary that knowing there's such a being and feeling humble.
I think religion is one of the access to God, but not the only way.
I myself do not belong to any particular religion, but I believe there's a great being which I call God.

To katsumoto,
You have your own opinion and so does Mycernius.
There's no need to agree or convince each other, but when we have discussion, we should respect other's opinion.
I think Mycernius is simply stating his opinion, you do not have to take it personally.

PS. You've sent me a private message but there's no way to reply to you because you set "not to receive private messages". That means you refuse all the private messages.

I made the comment because your original post said
every one believe that the God create every thing and he's also adorable
The statement implies that everyone believes in a god. Maybe it is an incorrect use of the word everyone. It gives then sentance a meaning that you might not have meant.

You are taking it personally, because Mycernius has indicated he was an atheist.

He did you give you his opinion and you seem to have taken offense to that. You have to realize that not everyone does't believe in God.

every one believe that the God create every thing and he's also adorable , but every one has own way to worship...

See my last sentence above. Or you should probably get a better grasp of the English language.

Sorry Hime. I think that Katsumoto worded his post wrong. It is a language issue, not a faith one. Hopefully it should be sorted:-)

I think when you really believe in God, some questions immediately occurs:
"What was His aim (plan) and what does He want of us". So the person begins searching the answer in different religions because religion is the experience of amount of people and have the answer to such questions. Then the man compare different religions searching the ideal. That's just like searching of a spouse. Of course, all these things are necessary for those who feels something wrong in his life and the world on the whole and wants to change somth. Those people who don't feel smth like this, really don't need God even if they believe in Him. They usually live their life meaniningless, that's a real pity

This is the type of statement that is really insulting to those of us who are atheist or agnostic. It is unfair to assume that simply because someone doesn't believe in a god or gods that their life must be without meaning. I have plenty of meaning in my life, in my love for my husband, family and friends, in my enjoyment of the natural world, in the pride and joy I take in my work, and in pursuing my various hobbies and interests.
In fact since atheist/agnostics don't believe in god, heaven or an afterlife, I'd wager most of us are making the most our lives here and now, since we believe it's the only chance we'll get. What could be more meaningful than that.

I believe that one does not need religion to believe in God. Religion implies faith and worship. I have quite a few friends who have no faith in God, and certainly don't worship him, but believe he exists all the same. The existence of an all-powerful god does not always mean that one has to accept the religion of that god. However, I'm certain fundamentalists of all beliefs would have a ball debating that opinion. 😌

I think the reason why some people say atheists/agnostics have live meaningless lives is because part of believing in God is the belief that we have a purpose. I see this kind of thinking with a lot of religious people. What they don't realize is that even without a deity to believe that doesn't mean that life is meaningless.
