Can you stay good friends with someone you feel very attracted to?
I'm having a very hard time with it and it often makes me very sad.
I wonder what other people do in such a situation.

I think that if you didnt have that person in your life at all, you would be very unhappy, so it is important to stay friends with people that you share your heart with. Best to have a hoping loving heart, than a broken, wishful what-if heart.

I was just asking myself this question.
I realised that I'm having difficulties with this.
When I get to know a woman and I'm attracted to her, but I know that it is very difficult or impossible to have a relationship with her, I always feel very painful when I'm talking to her.
So I tend to make a mess of it or lose all contact with her.
Why can I not be just friends with a woman I feel attracted to?

I know what you mean.
If I develop strong feelings for someone, but dont want to ruin it by taking the next step... I tend to fall back a bit, or maybe you can try to spend more time with her in a group situation.

No. If she is attracted to you too it is bound to lead to something else. I've been there. If you can't be together you need to back off, IMO.
