A thread all about babies.

As some of you already know, my wife and I are expecting a baby in June, 70% a boy. Now... I am just wondering what should we buy before the baby is born? We can get a bed, and a car seat, and probably a lot of other things, but because this is our first, I don't know what all to buy. Any advice would be great.

Diapers, diapers, and diapers.

If your mother-in-law is nearby, she's your best source on this stuff. After all, she's experienced.

Congratulations!!

First off, congratulations as we did that 11.5 months ago:77:

Mate, you are going to be one HAPPY and proud guy:cracker:

A liittle Dave running around;-)

Yes, upon discovering the pregnancy, we rushed out as we do, purchased the stroller-pram, baby car seat, and any other big or little thing we thought would be right.

The most important thing for us was the baby car seat, as we could not get home from the hospital without one. They check before you leave..

Yes, loads of mistakes.. Wrong seat, material, colour, difficult to get in and out of, two, three ten wheels, blaa, blaaa..

It's all very much and experimental process and at the end of the day, you will get it right..

But I would saydefinitely the bed, cot, futon, whatever it is as obviously this is important.. Or your wife may have other sleeping ideas as is usual in Japan like sleeping all together in the same bed, on futon, etc.

Stroller..

QUINNY BUZZ for more heavy duty, a breeze to push, looks fantastic on the streets with a gas auto opening mechanism.

Lightweight strollers (Not adjustable handle height) QUINNY ZAPP.. Extra light, great for travelling.. We are currently waiting on one to arrive from Germany.. It will come on board with us landing at Kansai airport..

Will your wife breast feed?

It's very imortant to get this right.. My wife had huge support here in the private hospital.. I have no idea about support for such things in Japan, I believe they lack talking to all new JP Mum's on this side, but your wife must study the breastfeeding technique if this is how she plans to feed, otherwise, the milk may not be their and formula will be the option which many do not like. Mum's milk is best👍

As soon as baby is born, cord cut, palce it straight on to the breast as this immediately soothes the baby and teaches it from start.

Forget toys.. They will come later on.. The baby is to young..They will probably come from within and abroad, and I'm sure loads of other things..

Some wash cloths are important for the bath..Towels, baby 'Muslin' wraps they call them here for wrapping at bed time, sleeping on the back..

Bubs first change of clothing for the day he leaves hospital.. Of course clothing for out of hospital.. 100% cotton is best..
🎈😄:bikkuri:🍾📣
So many things.. I hope they provide the education for you guys in hospital...

They trained me here as midwife! I was massaging at every contraction, up came the numbers and out with the tennis ball.. I used this to massage my wife's lower back.. the BEST choice, take one along..

I actually stayed at hospital with my wife the whole way through.. They encourage it here..

Will you stay for the full delivery?

It is very emotional, and such a beautiful part of life that you will cherish for forever..

****! I'm so happy for you guys👍

70% Boy.. Where is the "Choose a name thread?"

have your wife and you decided on names?

We chose Kai because it fits both West and east. It means Ocean. Daniel is Kai's middle name..

Heck, feel the pain in my broken toe, my nose is healing from Kai bighting it yesterday. no hair left on my legs, they love to pull that out, al the things that you are going to go through..

No more coffee breaks at home.. 24 hour surveilance, you are in for the good and the bad... All fun, all worth it, Dad, you suddenly have a lot more responsibilities now..

They learn VERY fast from start so any bad habits that you don't want your son to imitate from you, lose them fast..

Mate, CONGRATULATIONS from the bottom of my heart and please send your wife a rose from us here:rose:

Not to sound like a sore bastard but this thread kinda resembles a treaty lol.
