? Avatars That Move - How Do You Do That??

Do you need something special to "capture" one from the internet?? When I click on them to save, I loose the
movement? How do you get them to work on our Forum?
Do you need to use some computer language before you enter them?? Please explain in simple details that an old
non-computer literate brain-dead guy can understand!

Moving Avatars are usually animated GIF files.

Copying them from other forums / sites shouldn't be a problem. Once you save them to disc, they should still have the same animation properties. Open them in Internet Explorer and they should move the same way as on the original site.

The trouble comes when you open it in graphic-editing software like Photoshop (to resize the file or optimizing the file-size f.i.) and resave the file. Photoshop will only show the initial frame of the animation and overwriting the file will result in a GIF-file with just that single image.

Photoshop also comes with Image-Ready, which is software specialized in web-graphics. Open an animated GIF in Image-Ready and you will get the full sequence of frames. You can then resize and resave the file without losing the animation.
There's more software to do this, but i only have experience with Image-Ready.

just what I tried using, & only got the first frame as you described. I'll have to see if I have the "Image-Ready"
part in my book & read up on it. Thanks!

yeah when i resize/edit animations what i usually end up doing is opening things in animation shop then exporting to paintshop to resize and edit then update it back to animation shop and save. that way it still works and all, if you need something done with a gif file just email it to me frank and ill mess with it n send it back to ya.

Paintshop pro contains a GIF-Animation Prog.
Ulead GIF Animator
CoffeeCup GIF Animator

An animated GIF is just like a tiny film. The more single pictures you line up the smoother the movements get. Working with many pics (15 - 25) per second will give movements like you see them in a film or video.....
Note: The speed of a animated GIF shown in a webbrowser seems pretty often to depend on the webbrowser that is used... AFAIK it is impossible to get precise (like a video for example) running Anim-GIFs..

Two examples: The first has around 60 pics build in, the second around 30..... Since I build them really quick they aren't good quality
