Are these Japanese sentences correct? (Basic)

Are these sentences correct?

1. 私の落ち度を訂すますお願いします～！
Watashi no ochido o teisumasu onegaishimasu~!

It confuses me, because I'm not sure if you can use a "masu" word after another "masu" word. Also, I don't know if I wrote "teisumasu" correctly. (It's originally "teisuru", the word for "to correct".)

2. 私は日本語を自習ます。
Watashi wa nihongo o jishuumasu.

This one I'm confused about as well. Is it "jishuumasu" or "jishumasu"? It matters because I don't want to get the wrong characters for it and end up with a completely different word. (The word is supposed to mean "self-study", as in studying by myself.)

Wow, not to be rude, but you sound incredibly snarky. I don't know if you meant to come off that way, though. Is that how you intended it to be? :?

In any case, rather than just telling me that I'm wrong and not to study "crap" I find on the internet, why don't you do what would help me and give me some feedback on the proper way to do it? Isn't that what this forum is for? Again, not trying to be rude. Just saying what would actually help me, which is why I posted the question in the first place. I don't feel like I need to get into the great amount of study material I have purchased, both online and offline. I am still in the process of learning, and I -- like everyone else -- make mistakes. If it bothers you so much to see "noobish" mistakes, then I really don't think you should be posting in a forum like this.

The word you're using 自習 is a noun. You can't just add ~masu on the end to make it a verb.

落ち度 is more close to 過失, i.e., "fault (in works)". If you want to say "to correct sentence/word", 間違い is most common.

訂する is not incorrect, but far far less common than 訂正する. 直す can be also used.

When you want to use お願いします at the sentence end, the form should be 私の間違いを直してくださいますようお願いします. Although 私の間違いを直してください。お願いします。 is far easy, I think.

Yes. ^^;; I was looking up different words for the meaning "to correct", but I ended up using the wrong one.

Thank you for the help. Oh, and the reason I added "masu" to the end was because I read somewhere that "masu" is added to the end of a verb to make it "present tense", but I didn't realize that the word I was using was a noun. The description mentioned something about a verb, and I immediately assumed that was what the word was. Which was stupid.
The material I use is a membership at JapanesePod101.com for pronunciation and Kana, and the book I just purchased called "Remembering The Kanji". Both of them are really helpful, but I'm planning on getting a few more study materials. I don't have the money just yet unfortunately.

If thats the first verb you're practicing on I would say its quite an odd choice. I personally started with the verb stem Tabe which is basically regarding eating. Then I practiced all the suffixes and how to conjugate them all properly it also acts as a useful intro or refresher on the particle wo because its necessary in most sentences involving the above verb more so than perhaps others you could have chosen.

If you still want to learn via the internet I would suggest looking up Tae Kim's Japanese grammar guide its quite useful. Theres nothing wrong with using the internet along side textbooks, if I'm honest I use the net more than books. As you get better you will develop a better understanding of whether something you read online is bollocks or not.

There was nothing "snarky", "rude", or "not nice" about what I said. It was, in fact, probably the best advice you could get at this stage of the learning process.

I did point out where you made your mistake: simply tacking "masu" onto stuff. You later indicated that you did that based on something you read/heard somewhere, so my observation was correct.

I didn't correct it for a couple of reasons. First...it wasn't a simple case of having made a conjugation error; it was a case of apparently not yet having learned anything about the conjugation of verbs so there was nothing to "correct". It would have been a case of typing up a lesson on verb conjugation so you could learn it to begin with. The second reason is that there are tons of materials out there which already do that and there is no point in reinventing the wheel by typing it up from scratch every time a new learner comes along.

So you can see, by the nature of your sentences it was obvious that it wasn't merely a case of an error or misunderstanding (which I often do try to provide specific and useful advice about) but rather a case of someone learning from inadequate materials and having either skipped over or not yet having been exposed to some very important basic information which is covered very early on in the use of proper structured materials. The "shotgun" or "cafeteria" approach to Japanese learning (a little from over here, a little from over there, pick what you like, skip what you don't) doesn't work well and is not conducive to effective learning. The absolute single best piece of advice that could be given you based on what you are doing and on the stage you are at is the advice I gave you: a major change in your approach to self-study and the use of structured materials that present vocabulary and grammar in some sort of logical order, each step building upon the previous step. Almost universally, though, the earnest learners who have it their heads that they are going to teach themselves Japanese by learning kanji and skipping grammar absolutely resent the hell out of it and say I'm "snarky", "rude", or "not nice".

By the way, the learning of kana and kanji, while nice, is the learning of Japanese orthography....not the learning of Japanese. Unfortunately, most beginners seem not to appreciate the distinction and get their learning cart miles out ahead of their learning horse.
