Anyone ever fed up and wanting to go back to your home country?

I don't think anyone loved Japan as much as me..........

...........but I confess, after 2 full years I wanted to return home. It was not really anything bad about Japan, it was more about being homesick for the US. I missed my favorite foods not available in Japan. I missed deer hunting and shooting back in Maine. I missed my family & friends back home. My lack of Japanese language skills made me want to be able to watch TV in English and read newspapers and magazines in English and have a deep and complicated conversation in English back home. Basically , I was just plain homesick. The funny part is, after 40 years , I am still homesick for Japan now, LOL.

Uncle Frank

Poor uncle frank well anywayz i think you will go back to Japan 1 time in your life. You just have to spare some money go buy a ticket and wait for a bit and there you are on the plane to Narita airport and hey you american's don't need a visa to go somewhere while we europeans have to!

Don't have any specific plans to go back to my homeland yet but giving China some serious thought.

The people are more sociable, dynamic and hard-working (hard working may be due to the fact that there is very little work for Japanese people to do these days but of course Japanese people are experts at stuffing around all day and then staying at the office until 10pm because "they have so much work to do while I am "lucky" that I can go home at 5:30 or 6:00." It's not my fault that they are scared of their wives!).

The security services (police and customs/immigration) are outright friendly when dealing with foreigners. Is it a pleasure going through their immigration. Each time wondering what smile or nice words the immigration chic will have for me while in Japan I have to be fingerprinted when I finally get to the top of the waiting line while the booths reserved for Japanese nationals are empty.......

Their official economy (not counting the vast black economy) is growing at 10% and is set to accelerate and thus will be double the size of Japans in about 5 years and triple in about 7. Japan will be "that little country next to China". And then given all this, there are still many Japanese people (I wouldn't say a majority) who think they are somehow "better" than Chinese while a small but significant % believe they are "superior" to any other people. In China fascists are still shot!

China is also so diverse. The food is better (apart from sushi). What kind of weather do you like? What size city? Do you like the mountains? The coast? Working in a bustling, modern environment or somewhere more relaxed? The only thing I can think of that isn't better is the great firewall of China but there are easy ways around that as well and as long as you don't agitate against the Party, they don't care.

China is the place to be for anyone who is interested in east Asia in my humble opinion.

Then, WHY don't you return to China ? I think nobody will stop you .... in my humble opinion.

That's what I just said I am giving serious thought to and gave my reasons for doing so. Sorry if you don't like it but it is all true nonetheless. I know a few people Japanese people who won't want me to go but of course, when I do go, of course no one will stop me. Not even the fascist police as long as the rule of law holds up.

It all boils down to the individual, if you think it's all that and Japan is all this then by all means go to China, but I've heard many negative things about China as well such as them being quite racist unless they know you, having a thirst for money which has altered their traditional values etc. It's common sense that every country has its good and its bad side, people just focus more on one than the other like your doing right now.

That's true. No doubt there are things which will piss me off there but i disagree about them being racist. I haven't seen any indication of that while not from many normal people you would meet on the street, in a bar or etc but i am bombarded by such impressions in various places in Japan. Shanghai people are a little "money crazy" but not so in other major cities like Beijing, Chengdu or Guangzhou.

You were right, some Japanese is just stuffing around to look very busy without real output.

Every country has negative aspects. People have the crazy idea that living in the West is great, but its not. I am planning to return to Japan soon. America, where I live, is getting crazy. Stupid people (birthers, tea baggers, KKKers, "preachers" at bus stops openly saying that gays go to hell, etc) spending gone wild, falsifed statistics (unemployment at 9.7%? HA! More like 17%), just to name a few things.

Yes, Japan has its problems, but I think I can deal with those peoblems more than I can deal with the shitte here. Besides, this is the Asian century and Japan will reap the benefits on the coattails of China and the rest. American and Europe will not be able to compete.
