Machinery orders in Japan dropped 3.9% in the month of July as compared to June. The demand for engines, machine tools, and computers has decreased for five consecutive months.
It seems like the U.S. suprime crisis is affecting the global economy as a whole. Japan is not the only one to feel its affects. I wonder which countries are directly affected by Japan's economic situation.

If you're going to quote something, cite your source please.

Also, provide some sort of evidence, study or research that supports your statements. In what way is the American mortgage crisis responsible for this particular problem. Then you go on to wonder whether other countries are affected by Japan's situation.

The country sits on a $14 trillion pile of household savings, the product of decades of trade surpluses and frugal lifestyles. This has allowed Japan to finance its immense $8.1 trillion fiscal deficit and still have enough money left over to be the world's largest creditor nation for the last 17 years

If I had all Japans money and assets..I could conquer the entire earth.
I would simply secretly get N Korea to build me a whole bunch of Nuke bombs in secret. Build a bunch of executive jets to use as guided, unstoppable missles to deliver the nukes. (suicidal pilots of course)
I would file flights plans to all major cities around the world that I think would be any threat to me and my plans, and I would cripple the communications, government leadership and military bases as well.
I would send wave after wave of these "missles" in a sneak attack. But the first massive wave would have the element of suprise and neutralize the most dangerous threats first. If you dare or manage to try to shoot down or intercept my missles after the first wave....the missle explodes.
Now...how could anyone stop me if I achieved the element of suprise? Is ANY nation on earth prepared for this type of attack? I would conquer the earth in one day probably..and then go get my massive booty.
Japan on the skids....? Yeah RIGHT.
Perhaps they just need me as their Emperor.

I'd be a real smart-a#$ about it too.
I would call the exec jet missles "Zeros" and make cool Toyota jingles like: "Saved by Zero" before I struck.
However if I got busted before my first wave got launched..and was informed I had a bunch of superpower nukes pointed right at me and N. Korea, and if so much as one nuke or red mercury fission weapon goes off...bye bye me AND my nuke factory. Then they also informed me that multi nation "pat down" teams would be in my airports shorty to search all my outgoing flights...if I got busted with those WMD's, and planes on the ground...that would probably be my ***, unless I could sneak them out with some subs or something.
The US military would have been easy as hell to take out too...most of it is all bunched together in a waste land with valuable oil...I could still save the oil beneath.
If I achieve the element of suprise..I would win...If I lost it..I lose.
Anyone else have a make believe cool plan like this to conquer the world they want to share?

I have been writing a Tom Clancy type military thriller for years around this exact scenrio with CIA, NSA, and NI's help...

I hope for a best seller too...but I acknowledge I need to know more on the true Japanese aspect of the conflict too....

For that I need Japanese, and those who truly understand them's point of view and experience too.

Can I get that assistance if I agree to pay Japanese taxes on that actual priveledged intel?

I hope for my writing debut to crush anything to date

Will my Japanese brothers support and buy my book too?

I found an interesting an article from the Washington Post. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/02/AR2008020200913.html

This is an old post. But, you get the picture. Some of the countries in Europe would be knocked off from the list for 2008 or 2009.

I agree with this article's assessment on the outlook of the Japanese economy. I understand there are many pro-Japan folks on this forum who don't want to see the troubling undercurrent.

How about if Japan asked George Soros to go break the Bank of China in exchange for helping him with his interest of freeing Tibet from China? (For those who may not know, his daughter is a Tibetan Buddhist who founded the Tsarpa Foundation). Get Japan, USA and the UK to form a federation against China and threaten to renege on the debt to China if China doesn't free Tibet, and leave Tibet alone! Oh yeah, we need trilingual Timothy Geithner who is fluent in Chinese AND Japanese, (he is a source of inspiration to have learned both of these hard languages) to meddle in this too!

There is no need for Japan, the USA, or the UK to meddle into China's domestic affair. Besides, appointing a religious figure head the Dalai Lama as a head of Tibet is not different from what the commie autocrats do in China. It's scary to have another theocratic state whose leader is chosen by some mythical religious mumbo-jumbo.

You're in luck, then! The Chinese government plans to pick the next Dalai Lama themselves. No doubt someone more receptive to the Chinese occupation. Of course, the current Dalai Lama is not a head of state, just a spiritual leader.

But you are right, there's no need for anyone else to get involved; the Tibetans don't have enough political juice.

To be honest, I am a bit concerned about their toxic food that is being imported worldwide.ツ Their food is such that they can create terriorism simply by exporting their melamine milk powders and monosodium glutamate.

Parody to the tune of Britney Spears Baby One More Time:
His Holiness is telling me
I must confess all my negative deeds
If I don't then I can't purify my mind
Give me a chime (ring the vajra)
Initiate me to the Kalachakra, the wheel of time.

This parody is taken from the Chorus
My Loneliness is killing me, etc.

The market will shun shoddy products. The USA, Japan, and other countries which consume Chinese food stuff has increased the testing and inspection to catch poisonous products. It is impossible to catch every single case of defective and poisonous product.

China wants to make money by exporting its products and is smart enough not to do what it did with those food alerts again. If it does that again, China will lose its overseas markets.

In Tibet, there is no other well-known person than the Dalai Lama. You can call him a spiritual leader or something else. He is a de facto leader of Tibet and will be a de facto head of state if (big if) Tibet gets its independence from China.

What we see so far is a world wide financial crisis. The US were just the first country to get hit. It is kind of natural that other countries will have to deal with this issue and this includes Japan.

Good New/Bad News

I have some good news and bad new for ya all.

The good news is that the financial crisis has seemed to hit bottom. The bad news is that this is as good as it gets for a looooooong time.

Is it true that most people are blaming the US for the economic downfall?

And who would you blame Putrefacation? Please provide us with links. It was the US financial industry, via the Fed and Wall Street that caused the whole mess to begin with and they have been doing it since the 1970's.

Add to this the CDO's, MBS's, CDS's, the destruction of the Glass-Steagal Act, bailouts of financial institutions, etc. so they don't lose any money and you have the mess we are in today with the US consumer footing the bill and the destruction of the middle class and your government lying to you on a daily basis and the media backing them up. If you do not know the meaning of the abbreviations above then you have not done your homework.

One thing you have to remember is that the Federal Reserve is not a governmental institution. Never has been and never will be. It is a consortium of private banks that lend money to the US at interest which is completely against the US Constitution which states that only the US Treasury shall have the power to coin money. In other words it is Wall Street and they plan on running the US into the ground to bring it on par with third world nations like China and India and they are succeeding!

But don't take my word for it. Take it from here:
Shall I go on? But what's the use as most people refuse to read the writing on the wall anyway. In the end the US as you and I knew it is finished and will never be what it once was regardless of what you hear, read, or see in the major media. Never! It was written 100 years ago that this day would come when the Fed was created on Friday, December 23, 1913 when most people and Congress was home with their families and now it is here.

Is it any wonder that the majority of legislation in this country that usually ends up hurting the taxpayer comes on a Friday when 99% of the people are too busy with sports and their weekends to take notice of what their government is doing? (As if they took any real interest in it anyway.)

Just look at the Cap and Trade Clean Energy Bill that was passed, when? Last Friday! and will only end up taking the US taxpayer and the middle class to the cleaners in the form of higher taxes and a doubling and tripling of their energy bills. Just watch. I will guarantee it here and now in writing just as I said in previous posts more than a year ago that we would have this so-called "carbon tax" to finance the new World Bank and IMF and pave the way for a one world currency and not one penny of it would be used for alternative forms of energy. Well maybe a penny or two to make it look good.

Still think the US is not to blame? Then pray tell who is? I have an open mind.

Er...I think you're right on this one.
If you do not know the meaning of the abbreviations above then you have not done your homework.

I didn't.

i was merely wondering what the foreign opinion was.

I didn't mean to deride you Putrefaction. I misunderstood your post to mean that the US was not at all responsible when it was solely responsible. My apologies.

The foreign media "opinion" is very similar to what the US media says and in order to find the truth one has to dig further into out of the way websites and such. Most foreign "out of the way websites", including Japanese websites, also indicate what I have quoted above in one way or another.

We have in no way hit bottom as has been mentioned above. The bottom will be far worse than what we are experiencing today.

I have been in contact with many business people in the USA and most of them said 2009 is the worst or toughest year they experienced in their career. The peak season for 2009 should start by now; but, the volume of business activities is not there yet. My hunch is 2009 will go down as the worst year in the recent business history. There are so many variables in play that I find it very difficult to get some bearing on how the economy is moving in 2010. The massing printing job of the greenbacks, mounting debt loads on many governments, social and economic instability in developing countries or emerging economies, and the rest of the list which goes on and on make me busy with my life and career plan.

Not a problem, looking back at my post it was phrased quite badly. Your reaction was very appropriate and well done!

it is up to the goverment of the country?

whether the economy have been effected, and whether can turn well soon,it upt to the goverment of the country?whether they are smart enough?

An interesting read.

Chinese Economic Juggernaut Is Gaining on Japan (Published 2009)

The DPJ's job is to keep the living standard afloat in a zero (or possibly negative) growth environment. Keeping the per capita living standard up in a declining economy could be a tough cookie for a country with over 127 million people. If you can trim the population size down to Switzerland's, things may change. Otherwise, the "spreading the wealth" syndrome will kick into the high gear in Japan.

It seems many economists and researchers are puzzled by Japanese electorate's inertia and Japan's zero growth for the last 2 decades or so without upsetting the ruling party until the recent general elections in August.
