'Addams family factor' in Japanese food

When a friend of mine who is a Japanese cook offered to make me pizza, I have to admit that my stomach did a turn. I mean, this guy specializes in preparing sashimi -- would the pizza come with the sausage still twitching?
On my planet, the United States, I'd normally consider pizza a "comfort food." But in Japan, it has become a discomfort food. This is because you just never know what they'll put on top of a pizza here. Almost anything is game, and even live game is a possibility.

I remember when my exchange student was here, we got pizza and she gave us the strangest looks when we ate it with our hands, and instead cut hers up with a knife and fork.

Many orientals eat pizzas with knives and forks, but scallion pancakes with hands.

I love Japanese pizzas too. I just eat them like some kind of pastries.

I don't find them so wierd, maybe because we have szechuan beef pizza and curry chicken pizza in Hong Kong too.

But a Quebecer once told me that pizza and spaghetti were things Marco Polo brought back from the East. (Don't know if it's true). He also said the origin of pizza was scallion pancake or Mongolian pancake!?

By the way, I like Adams Family too.

Ah yes, memories of ham n egg pizza for breakfast. The corn is, of course, a classic...and I'd disagree with FirstHouse...Japanese pizza is fantastic. You just have to ignore all your preconceptions about what pizza is supposed to be. Besides, you can always order 25 dollar dominos and get something sorta like the American version.

You'll be fine as long as it's hambaagaa and not hambaagu :gohan:

Well, a hambaagaa is your typical American style hamburger, with a patty, bun, etc. Hambaagu is like a meat patty served without a bun, usually with gravy and a side...kind of like a steak or something of that nature. Both are good, but you definitely would have problems eating a hambaagu with your hands.

Ham and Egg Pizza doesn't sound too bad at all in the morning for breakfest actually... However, some of the other types I've heard of I'd probably avoid But there are many in America I probably would too

Indeed - just take the "Hawaii" style pizza. Ananas on a pizza is at least as gross as eyeballs, if not more!

Whoever wrote that is the stereotypical ignorant American, I guess. Oh no, the Japanese eat raw fish!!! Get over it!

For the record, I like sushi, a lot. I don't think it tastes "raw" at all because the rice's cooked. :gohan:
