those are called katahana romanji is watashi in normal forum which you could read

things such as イヌヤシャ are turned into 犬夜叉 which is the mixed of katakana and hiragana they call the mix kanji

also.. it's not "letters" and the あ group is not called "the vowels"

The site that was provided is an okay site for a beginner, but one thing it missed out was explaining what hiragana, katakana, and kanji are, which, Inuyasha-the-kid, you have a problem understanding. Sorry I don't have a site off the bat to help explain them, but I can try to explain it simple on my own:

romaji - Japanese written with roman alphabet (the abc's).
hiragana - Japanese characters used for Japanese words.
katakana - Japanese characters used for non-Japanese words, or sometimes to emphasize certain words (this is a different set from hiragana, but with a corresponding in pronunciation [ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, etc.]).
kanji - Chinese characters to represent Japanese words, often a combination with hiragana.
