I tried surfing the forums, and I couldn't find anything on it. So, I guess I'll just ask.

My book says:

～まで = to (a place); as far as (a place); till (a time)

So, I'm still a bit confused how it's used. It doesn't go much more than that.

Let's see. Uhmm, the sentence in the dialog in the book that uses it says:

はがきは、イギリスまでいくらですか。
How much is a postcard to England?

This is a bit confusing. Like, I'm guessing you wouldn't use this for like "I went to the park." That would use に, right?

Let's see if I can made sentences trying the other translations the book gave...

僕は高校まで行きます。
I'm going as far as the high school.

公園で午後五時まで遊びますね。
You'll play at the park until 5:00 pm, right?

So, could someone explain more in depth what ～まで means or does?

に in your example is simply indicate direction, while まで is destination - if you regard まで as "up to ~" (and no further), maybe it is easier to understand the difference?

usually you can pair から with まで.
From ~ until ~
From ~ to ~

From home to school:
家から学校まで

From 11.30 until 12.
11時半から12時まで

Ahh. OK, I guess that makes sence. So, I'm guessing since no one said anything, the examples I gave were correct?

when using the particle まで in place of に, it places more emphasis of "up to/as far as, and no further." This could be highlighting the lengths to which you went/distance traveled. So something like OOまで行きます (instead of OO高校に行きます) could be translated as "go all the way to OO"

Certainly it could be depending on the context. I just don't think the differences are considered that strongly to most people in everyday conversation.
