詰めの協議

Hi all.

I've come across the term 「詰めの協議」 and I wonder if you can shed some light on the meaning. I don't understand what 「詰め」 means in this context.
WWWJDIC says:

詰め 【つめ; づめ】 (n,suf) stuffing; packing; keep doing for period of time (verbal suf); an end; the foot (e.g., of a bridge); checkmate; mate; appointment

The "keep doing for a period of time" might imply it's a long drawn out conference, but it says "verbal suf", which it isn't in this case...

TBH, I can't understand the bulk of that article, but this one phrase stuck out.

詰め（つめ） or 大詰め（おおづめ） in that case means, final; last stage.

So, 6-nation talks are in their final stage? 6-nation talks are getting close to an end? Something like that...^^;
Oops, I only read the title, not the content...
So, it says "the discussion among countries concerned will be brought to a head"... perhaps. (Sorry, I'm not good with English. )

Does 'wrap up meeting' make sense here?

Another example of usage, 大詰め, in the kenkyusha dictionary,
試合も大詰め. 九回裏を迎えました.
The game (baseball) is drawing to a close ［an end］ and we are in the bottom of the ninth inning.

I don't know if the word 'wrap-up' can be used here, either, for the meeting was not to solve all the issues, but just for 'to start it again or not'.
