Hi,

1. 事情をきいた彼女は可笑しさを噛みころしながら私をつ れて、ふたたびアパートに戻った。

a) Does 可笑しさを噛みころしながら mean something like "while trying to contain her amusement"?

b) I'm assuming from context that the subject of 可笑しさを噛みころしながら is 彼女, but is it grammatically possible for this phrase to modify 私? I'm not sure if ~ながら can ever modify a noun following...

2. 彼女の女友だちは恐縮し、笑いころげ、しきりにアヤま ったが、私はふくれ面をしていた。

Is ふくれ面 the same as 膨れっ面, which is the nearest thing I can find in the dictionary? Is it saying that the author (私) was looking sullen despite the apologies?

3. 彼の言うことには理論の飛躍がありすぎる。

Translation given: "There is a leap of logic in what he says."

Is ありすぎる = 在り過ぎる?

4. 何を言っても可笑しい年頃なのか、うちの息子は、ちょ っとした冗談にも笑いころげる。

I believe the last part of this means "my son rolls about laughing at even the slightest joke".

The first part looks like "Whatever you say, it's a strange age?", but I'm not sure exactly what that means. Is he saying his son is at a "funny" age? What is the function of か? Is it a kind of rhetorical question? Doubting/questioning the preceding statement?

5. 私の言ったことが気に入らなかったのか、夫は、ふくれ 面をしてだまりこんだ。

My translation: "Perhaps displeased with what I had said, my husband sank into a sullen silence."

Is this right? Does か mean "perhaps/possibly"?

1) a)
Yes.

b)
No. It should be ~ている when modifying 私.

2) 3)
Yes.

4)
Maybe 何を言われても可笑しい/何を聞いても可笑しい makes more sense?
か is the same meaning as #5.

5)
Yes.

Thanks Toritoribe.

4) Sorry, I don't see what you are getting at with this. What does 年頃 refer to? Is the speaker saying that his son is at a "funny" age, or does it mean something else?

OK, how about this?

私が何を言っても彼はそれを可笑しい(funny)と感じる年頃
