Hi,

I don't understand this around What does this pattern mean?

2. (next sentence)

a) In what sense is また meant?

b) Is いまむかし a standard reading of 今昔?

1)
(after being) in the homestretch

2) a)
It doesn't have the meaning of "again/also" here. (It's close to これがまあおもしろい.)

b)

Thanks,

1. I know the pattern ~てから by itself. What I don't understand is ~てからの, and how の grammatically and semantically connects ~てから to what follows.

2b. In the book it has the furigana Does that have any kind of special significance?

1)
の shows that キディッチの練習が追い込みに入ってから modifies ウッドのしごき as same as the common possessive の, thus, it means "Wood's grueling (after being) in the homestretch".

2)
The meaning is the same. The nuance which is provided by the reading is a bit different, so it's just the author's/translator's preference.

OK, thanks, kind of a dumb question, but the subject of 入って is 練習, right?
