と / どうせだから / やらか / 焦れったさに

Hi,

1. One person has made a suggestion, and another person has agreed to it. The first person is relieved and says:

「これでよしと。さあ、こういうことを全部やっても、・・・」

What is the purpose of the highlighted と?

2. 「どうせだから、途中でピーブズに出会ったら、ほんとにそうしろって説得できるかもしれないな。」

I don't really grasp the meaning of どうせだから. Is the whole thing an idiomatic set phrase, or should I be able to work out the meaning from the component parts?

3. 「口実は、ピーブズがいつものように何かとんでもないことをやらかそうとしているとか・・・」

a) Does the last part mean

何かとんでもないことをしているやらかそうとしているとか

?

b) Does ~やらか~とか mean "doing something like ~ or ~"?

c) Why is it そうとしている and not simply そうしている?

4. ハリーは焦れったさに喚き声をあげた。

Is 焦れったさに adverbial describing 喚き声をあげた? Is there any particular reason why it is not written 焦れったく instead?

Yes, it's a kind of idiom, meaning something like "if we do it at all". The ending of the sentence is semantically odd, though. It should be どうせだから/どうせだったら、途中でピーブズに出会ったら、ほんとにそうしろって説得したほうがいいかもしれないな。 if どうせだから is used there.

It's the structure "the volitional form of やらかす + としている", as in ラーメンを食べようとしている or テレビを見ようとしている.

4)
焦れったさ is the noun form of 焦れったい, and に indicates the cause/reason of 喚き声をあげた.
