1) Presumably this is the particle で (as opposed to the -て form of the copula)?
2) I did consider that meaning actually, but I discarded it because I didn't see how it fitted. Actually, I cannot make sense of 椅子ごと反っくり返り at all. Would it be possible for you to give me a literal English translation?
