Hi,

1.

Translation given: "About when can you finish it?" / "Well, I can do it by the middle of next month."

Am I right that でしたらできます = でしたら + できます (as opposed to で + したら + できます), and it literally means "if/when it's the middle of next month, it will be ready"?

Translation given: "A man's heart is about as large as his fist."

a) Where does the sense of "large" come from?

b) Is this a Japanese proverb, or is it supposed to be a literal statement about anatomy?

Translation given: "Someone's at the door".

What sort of よう is this?

I'm assuming this means that this guy is 45 years old. Are 四五 and 四十五 both possible in situations like this?

Translation given: "The art of getting appointments when telemarketting."

I think the translation must be slightly lacking. I'm assuming that 保険のテレアポ must be referring to telemarketing calls that are trying to sell insurance, right?

1)
Right. でしたら is a polite form of だったら.

2) a)
From the context. The same structure can mean 重さ, 色, 形, 価値, 硬さ, etc. が同じ depending on the two comparison words.

b)
The latter. That's an anatomical theory.

3)

4)
Yes.

5)
保険のテレアポ would be more likely "telemarketing calls that are trying to get appointment". Although I've never heard the word

Thanks Toritribe.

1. Is the following interpretation completely impossible?

来月・の・半ば・ごろ・で・したら・できます・が = "If I do it (したら) at/during (で) the middle of next month, then it will be ready"

5. I'm struggling to see where 保険 fits in the meaning. In the dictionary, 保険 is defined as "insurance" (in the sense of protecting your possessions against theft or loss, etc.) Does it not have that meaning in this sentence?

1)
"A temporal word" で sounds odd in that meaning. に is used for the case. "A means" で, for instance, can be possible.

I can do it if using an electric drill.

5)
I mean "appointment to meet (for selling insurance)". 保険のテレアポ doesn't mean "to sell insurance via phone".
