I hear the word しゃかいけん a lot at NHK news, especially in the form しゃかいけんで . Jim Breen's dictionnary talks about "social" or "economic right" which doesn't mean much. Can someone provide some context to help me understand this ?
Without the context I'm not sure but it might be きしゃかいけんで.
記者会見(きしゃかいけん) means press conference/news conference.
きis often pronounced with silent "i" when followed by s/sh/t/k and can be missed when you're listening to it if you are not familiar with the word.
You know, that makes a lot of sense, especially in the context of those NHK podcasts I'm listening to. And after listening again to my file, I can hear that silent き much better now.
