に is a particle that indicates the target, so it's the same as ～に対して. It doesn't always ～のために.
cf.
彼女に言い訳をした。
仲間に嘘を強要した。
敵に損害を与えた。
から indeed means "because", but というから is not a set phrase.

So this という of というから just means "I heard", right?
Then how about this example? Is this に of 彼女に the same as のために?

Right.
That's the same に as the initial one. に indeed means ～のために as a result in those two examples, but it totally depends on the context whether に can have that meaning or not.
cf.
味方が勝つために、僕が敵に出来ることを、僕は知りたかった。
The speaker doesn't want to do something for the sake of the enemy, right?
