Hello, this forum has helped me a lot with memorabilia. I purchased this flag along with another that were brought back from a Marine who saw combat in Guadalcanal and Tarawa. I've been told the owner of this flag was "Sadao Yatani" I'm hoping if anyone can translate a unit or address on this flag so I can gather more history on it. Also I found two stamps on the top of the flag. Not sure what they mean either. Thank you!

The name is correct
矢谷貞夫君 Yatani Sadao-kun (going down vertically, right side). Kun is honorific suffix usually applied to young men.
The big letters going down vertically (also right side) are
祈武運長久 (pray for long-lasting good luck)
which is nearly universal on all these flags, both fake and legitimate.
I can't read the name of the organization that presented the flag to young Mr. Yatani. The rest of the writings are just names.
I can't make out the seals. They are from the sending organization. Maybe a printing/publishing firm 眞囗出版社印 in the seal on the left. (I could be wrong)

Thank you, do you know the purpose/history of those red seals being put on Japanese flags? I've seen a couple with stamps like that every once in awhile but I'm not sure why they are out on the flag....
